In order to have fraps slow down a machine, it needs to be recording a
video (then just delete the video afterwards unless you want it).
The grapple isn't that bad on a PC, if you keep the camera over Lara's
head instead of trying to follow her when nearby corners mess up the view.

If Lara has her weapons drawn, she reverts to her old style movements,
left and right are side step, and she flips front, side, or backwards.
In TRU you have to hold down the target lock key, but for TRL or TRL,
using advanced toggle, once Lara's weapons are drawn they stay drawn.
In TRU, pressing action near an enemy causes Lara to do a swinging kick,
doing this while running at an enemy results in a flying side kick. It
usually knocks the enemy down.
One undocumented underwater move is holding forwards, then back and releasing
forwards, or vice versa (possibly only in sprint mode), Lara will do a quick
uturn like the old roll underwater move. |

FWIW, I never had an issue with TRA, though my specs were similar in most
respects apart from the graphics card. My 'old' rig was:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 running @3GHz
Intel 975X mobo (MSI 975X Platinum Powerup Edition)
Kingston 2GB PC2-6400 DDR2 RAM (running at 667MHz)
Gigabyte 7600GT graphics card.
No add-on sound though.
It would seem strange for the gfx card to be causing the issue, as I doubt
my lower one placed *that* much load on the system.

>> Try the TR1 Main Theme, they are using human voices or a good electronic simile singing 'Ah'.
Still sounds like a typical synth chorus to me.

Do a web search for Tomb Raider MP3 and you'll find a lot of hits. TR
Chronicles has a section. There was an "official" site for the early versions
by the composer, but if it's still there, it's buried with all the other hits
on a web search.
> I recall there was something wrong with those disks playing on the PC and you didn't get to hear all the music.
That was a later version of the TR1 cds. The original version worked fine.
For TR1 and TR2, the music and background sounds are audio tracks on the
cd's, and can be played on a normal cd-player. Since these are true
audio tracks, if a players computer didn't have the cd audio output
connected to the sound card, then the music, cut scene dialogs, and
background sounds couldn't be heard. |

Ah so that was it. I was using a Soundblaster 1.0 card in an 8 bit slot
back then. It didn't have cd audio in. Then I got an AWE 32 card. That
one did have the inputs, and I did use them. Ok, so I'll just play the
sound tracks. Just like the original Quake!
