I wasn't personally offended. I took it to mean that Electronic Arts is
composed of bullying, jingoist, and imperialistic morons. And I've been
convinced of that for years now.
Maybe I should be? |

Which is my problem with his reviews - he goes looking for things he
can be sarcastic about which - while entertaining - doesn't really
help me or someone else looking for a fair review of a game.
And nevermind my low opinion of journalists who weave their political
opinion into every piece they write, whether it's about sports,
gardening or games. <sigh>.
So entertaining : yes, informative : not really.

The guy doing Zero Punctuation is actually Australian. And, yes,
he does make fun of what he percevies as US traits quite often in his
reviews. |

Are you sure? I thought Yahtzee was a Brit that had relocated to
Australia.
His review of Bioshock is a classic.

Uhm, this guy beats up anything he touches. Beside, what I loved is his
critic to *EA's* portrayal of the war in MoH Airborne - which is spot-on.
I would love to see his review of Distant Guns, any cookie-cutter game and
some other unfamous wargames ) |

with reviews like that, brutal and savagely funny, he would never get any
advertising.

Well whatever.... Brits already don't consider themselves
"Euros", and Brits relocated to Australia.... I won't even go there.
In fact when I think of it it's funny how often US guys use the
"Euro" as some sort of insult when it simply misses the point
altogether. I've been called "Euro" quite often, and my small and
insignificant country is not even a member of the EU, and people from
bigger EU countries would laugh at the notion of any Croat citizen
being a "Euro" (not that I care, I would not trade places with them
honestly, just sayin').
It's kinda like calling every American a WASP, using it as an
insult, even though:
a) It's not an insult really.
b) The guy on the other side may not be a WASP at all. |

euro isn't an insult. it is a handy term
it really, mostly applies to western europe.
the limeys are a seperate case.

americans don't consider wasp an insult. if you use it on a catholic we will
just laugh at the stupid euro.
and wasps are down with it.
its like gringo, those south of the border think it is a horrible insult but
we just laugh at them, because like euros, they hold no standing with us.

ethnic insults only work if the insultee has a lower social position and
knows it.. |

All of this reminds me when a Japanese journalist was killed in the 2007
Burmese protests, and the newspeaker labeled him as "the first westerner to
lose his life in the revolts" O_______________o

Of course, 'Euro' doesn't include you, Oleg. "Euro' or, more
pejoratively, 'Euro-weenie', refers, to the best of my understanding,
to those increasingly curious folks currently inhabiting Western
Europe. As in Germany to Portugal.
I have no brief against them individually- I married one- but as a
group they seem to be exhibiting that some kind of Freudian death
wish- or psychic transference. Here they are, boiling over with
resentment towards Bush and Amerika, while their rights are being
slowly eroded by the EU bureaucratic monstrosity, birthrates decline
to microscopic levels, and their oh-so-liberal civiliization
surrenders to creeping Islamization. A Swedish friend tells me that
Malmo has become increasingly off-limits to non-Muslims. Mass group
therapy indicated? |

I've religiously read all of his reviews every Wednesday when he releases
them. I like them. They are humorous and have a nice raw edge to them that
you don't see in other reviews.
