Ah yes, like Morrowind! The only reason I played that one was to explore
the whole Morrowind "map"! I pretty much did that, and collected tons of
neat stuff along the way.
Unfortunately, Oblivion you have to *play*. :-\

Yeah well, forums have their uses as searchable technical knowledge
bases. I had some issues not long ago with a 3DG product and was able
to find a thread where the last posting was 2004 that was right
on-topic. I re-activated the thread and had my problem solved within
24 hours but I'm another one who just doesn't view them as a
community place.
Mark me down as another beer-drinker, too.
I'd rather have a good quality beer than a wine (ie spoiled grape
juice) and it must be five years since I drank any spirits. Tea
flushes out the kidneys almost as well as beer, but I never liked
boiled leaves, either.
Used to brew my own beer and THERE'S a hobby that can keep you away
from the keyboard. I have beer recipes to share if anybody's
interested?

I like rum. I like margueritas too. Haven't had either in ages. Hot

Actually, I've been spending more of my "community" time on a local
blog run by the national broadcaster (radio, TV, webcasts) at
http://www.abc.net.au/unleashed/
I reckon it's worth a look, just to see what GOOD local interactive
media can be.
Some interesting issues discussed and you know what "they" say about
opinions - like arseholes, everybody's got one.
Feel free to join in, McG. (and others - all welcome. Bring an opinion
and let it all hang out.)

I like both Morrowind and Oblivion but I did find stuff to do in Oblivion
that wasn't "playing". I started a (male) character that wore nice clothes,
didn't fight at all (in case his clothes got spoilt). He read books and
collected them and was aiming for a nice house.
I had another character who was on the run and couldn't go into the big
towns and who just had to live on his wits. I love playing OB like that.
Quests done were only side quests and only those found in the wilderness.
I don't drink beer btw but I remembered that some did used to pop in having
had a skinful! I love a tipple of wine though!

Morrowind I still have laying around here somewhere. In Oblivion, I
believe I played a thief as I was, and still am, into Thief games.

Well let me see. Oblivion is installed and runnable. In x64. And I have
Modo 302 to learn. One of them could actually be used to make me some
money. Maybe I'll try to do a litle of both
I quit drinking completely, cause me, the blood pressure meds and alcohol
don't make for a happy trio. But, I can admit to a taste of wine or
marguerita with a nice dinner from time to time

Me too Albert, after Tombraider the Thief games were my second series of

The whole thing just worked for me. Abandoned villages, mutated monsters,
warring factions, all those weird goodies to find.
It went, for me, right up there next to Deus Ex. And in truth, might have
just pipped DE as my fav game of all time.
