Resistance Fall of Man is a good cheapie. You would want to play the first
before the sequel as the story may not make any sense otherwise.

If it goes down to £10 I'll buy it. In the meantime I'm struggling along on
Pure. Have we done any races yet? I'd like to give that a go.

I had mixed feelings about PoP - played it on the PS3 and it was
staggeringly beautiful and yet prosaic. It's also a mixture of nice and
easy controls yet the boss fights could overwhelm or bore to tears the
casual player.

I bought this too. It's awesome. I haven't done jigsaws for years and I
can honestly say this has kept me going through Christmas.

It was actually a Heron install that I was troubleshooting. For some
reason, that release is more picky about what hardware it wants to run on.
I was trying to get it to go in the Connectix/MS Virtual Server
environment, but I had to add a 'noreplace-paravirt' parameter to the end
of one of the boot lines in order to make it go. Then I came to my senses
and installed a VMWare viewer instead. If you're running Heron on real
hardware instead of a VM, my fix won't help you.

Intrepid was broken for the first month after it was released. How old is
your Live CD image? I wouldn't burn one that was authored before 10
December.

-KKC, dragging UGVM off topic since 2006.

GH:WT Guitar edition (360).

It's quite moral killing when you get to the end of a song absolutely
breathless thinking you are a rock god for getting 95% and realise you
are only playing on easy.

I just downloaded it the other day, and it's an install on my laptop
dual booting with Vista.

I had Gutsy running fine for a couple of months and then the Heron
upgrade killed it and it would never boot. Being someone who knows
nothing about Ubuntu but just wanted to play around with it, I gave up
because I didn't know what to do and it's been like that for a good six
months. Then the other day someone said I should try Intrepid so I
downloaded the LiveCD, but I can't get that to boot either. So I'm
pretty stuck, I'd like to give it another go but I don't know what I'm
doing and I don't know anyone who can help me.

Does it report an error, or does it just hang on a black screen? We maybe
should take the discussion to e-mail at this point, but a screen shot of
the grub boot options would be helpful. If you get far enough to get an
ESC prompt before Ubuntu tries to boot, hit it and we can look at your
/boot/grub/menu.lst option settings as a starting point. If you can't even
get that far, then there's no fixing it without mounting your drive to
another working Linux machine and viewing the file system directly.

You try the Alternate CD yet? Intrepid had problems with some graphics
cards that made the Live CD hard to use on a handful of laptops. The
Alternate CD is all text-based and takes four times as long to install,
but the benefit is that you get to see what packages are actually being
installed. You'll need a torrent client to get it from here:

http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/downloadmirrors#alternate

-KKC, installing every roguelike that will fit on his Eee.

Yep, you are on my list, and your time on that first level was comfortably
the best out of any of my friends on any of the levels. Still only took me a
few gos to beat it though. :p

Tell me about it. With Civ: Rev games taking several hours a go, and the
bloody time consuming jigsaw game, I'm struggling to fit anything else in
right now. Still not even looked at Mercs 2.

£15.71 instore at Tesco. Close enough, I'd say. Smile It's *well* worth at
least double that...

Unfortnuately I traded my copy a while back. Online seemed pretty good, from

Have you tried any of the puzzles in 'fractal' mode? Make sure you set aside
a good couple of hours before you do! Smile
