For Christmas?

Due to various circumstances our family didn't buy each other anything this
year for the first time ever.

So I bought myself a DS lite (red) with Professor Layton then out here on
holiday looking through the fake Game store I spotted Zelda Phantom
Hourglass so I got that aswell.

What did you all get for crimbo? (for those that celebrate it)

Mutual gift giving was a bit light among my family members as well, but
that was previously agreed upon. My girlfriend, ever mindful of feeling
one-upped for several years in a row, got me Castlevania: Order of
Ecclesia and Lock's Quest, as well as Tales of Vesperia and the Asus Eee
unit. My brother was also responsible for a minty boxed copy of Lufia: The
Legend Returns, which is a GBC game I've been after for years.

Of course, like Beck I did shopping for myself. Of note is a lovely copy
of King's Field: The Ancient City and many recently discounted Atlus
games. I also found myself picking up a lot of boxed Megadrive games,
mostly common items like Sonic 3 or Vectorman that aren't valuable to
anyone but me. Yes, I'm aware of the XBLA and VC libraries, but downloads
don't come with nice clamshell cases or glossy manuals.

For me, this year was more about the giving. Ordinarily I have every
intention of sending cards to everyone, and then I don't remember to do
so. This year I got ahead of the curve and sent out twenty holiday food
packages; English muffins, scones, coffee, fruit preserves, and giant
frozen Omaha steaks. I learned the hard way this year that you can't ship
food through American borders, so some people got last-minute substitutes
that I was less than happy about.

Snap, although I did buy a mahoosive turkey and some beers for
everyone.

I received both a large and small sackboy from my mate and his son
respectively, and I bought myself and my mate some dead or alive
figures that I'd not seen before.

Oh, and I won a 32GB iPod touch in the Christmas charity raffle at
work. Which would be lovely if I didn't already have one.

Oh, and I just went to town and snapped up the last game exclusive
special edition of Fallout 3 on the PS3 for £20, as I wanted the
brotherhood of steel figure. The website sold out ages ago, but if
you're after the game for less than 20 quid, and/or want the figure,
it might be worth checking in your local game. Only saw the PS3
version in my store mind.

No gaming presents at all this year. I got an assortment of books, the
complete Jeeves & Wooster, the complete Yes Minister and a Ferran Adria
science kit which is the coolest present in the world ever.

Do you mean you cannot ship food from state to state?

No, I was attempting to ship stuff to Canada. Foreign countries are very
distrustful of American meats these days, and Commonwealth nations doubly
so. If you buy directly online, the shipping forms have validation that
allow only American addresses. If you buy the sausage yourself and try to
ship it, customs agents (and their dogs) block your package with an
efficiency better suited to explosives and narcotics.

So forget the food. Next year, everybody gets novelty marital aids. Smile

This game sort of looked interesting but I was put off by the demo. Not a
bad demo, but it left me feeling there was not much of a story to the game.
Am I wrong?

Maybe he means that you can't ship food from the USA to Canada,
Brazil, etc., which you can't.

There was gushing in the PC groups about epic cinematic set pieces when
it was released. I doubt there's much story, though, because there's
only a few levels.

Good choices! What's a fake Game store? I got

* Prince of Persia (360), which I'm rather enjoying apart from the
irritating boss battles which are tedious grind after the half way
mark. Love the scenery and animation.

* Fallout 3, which I'm leaving for another couple of days until I
finish POP.

Cheers - Jaimie
