1. Drakensang
From reviews I've got impression it's true RPG (at last!), and quite NWN killer.

2. Cryostasis
It's not RPG, but that rare occasion of made-in-Russia games that got high scores
on Russian sites that are rather sceptical to anything "made-in-Russia" Smile)
It's main and only fault (as they say): you must have PhysX enabled card to play it
(and so it's PC-only title).

Eng Info
http://www.drakensang.info/
..
* In the beginning your character travels to the capital Ferdok to meet with
an old friend called Ardo. But he is missing and after a few inquiries you
find out that there have been several murders in Ferdok and that your friend
is somehow involved.
* Later on the player will learn that Ardo is dead and stumble across a big
conspiracy.
* You may play elves, dwarfes and humans
* You do not need to understand the pnp system to play the game.
* There won't be day/night cycles
* You walk from one area into another by using a map (like BG oder NWN2 I
think)
* There will be 50 locations, all about 1km^2
* There are random encounters
* The game looks and feels like a BG
* Six person party: Four heroes, one guest and a summoned creature
* You may 'store' your characters in one location and they level even if you
are not using them (see NWN2 or Kotor)
* you may pause combat at any time
* There are 40 spells
* Some of them have been modified (for example the 'five-minutes' spells)
* There will be only on ending but a few ways to get there

I'm looking forward to it a lot. I tried out the demo a while back and it
seems quite interesting. Much different than the previous games of
course. I know they said the translated version would be out the first
part of this year, but I haven't seen a firm release date yet.

And thus spoke Andrew Rybenkov...

DSA (The dark Eye) is probably germany's most playes pen&paper system,
so Drakensang - the fourth computer game (there were three others, a
long time ago) - was eagerly anticipated.

Personally, I didn't finish it. It's not a bad game, imho, it's quite
ok. It suprisingly bug-free and the engine looks nice. But comparing it
to NWN is a little bit unfair, as Drakensang simply cannot compete here
(after all, it's mainly a game for the german market, I doubt that it
was a big hit in other countries). NWN and NWN2 are simply better in
almost any aspect, they have "more" of everything and do everything a
little bit better, for example the AI. Comparing the rule systems
doesn't make sense, of coursem, they're different. End of Story. But
imho the NWN Engine is simply better, as is the whole game - and NWN can
be modded much better.

DSA fans will probably like Drakensang more than NWN, because Drakensang
leads them into a world they prefer over Faerun (NWN), but that doesn't
make it an NWN killer. Imho, NWN is still the king of this type of
games, Drakensang is it's little brother: Very similar, but not quite as
sophisticated.

As I said: It's not bad. It's suprisingly good. But I wouldn't expect it
to be an NWN killer, if you really liked NWN.

AHA! That is exactly review I wanted to hear, - thank you very much.
I think I will get it (when it would make here). Party-based "suprisingly good"
- I do not want to miss it Smile)

The dark Eye? Literally translated it would be "The black Eye" - however
as far as I know itīs sold under "Realms of Arkania" in englishspeaking
countries.

No, it's really "The Dark Eye" since the fourth edition. The reason is
simple, the literal translation ("The black Eye") has another meaning -
"Das blaue Auge" Smile

IIRC "Realms of Arkania" was the title of the english version of the
first three computer games (and some books). The fourth edition of the
rules have been translated as "The Dark Eye".

No wonder, as a black eye describes "ein blaues Auge / Veilchen"

Wow, no games still? - Whatever. I'm SO glad the computer game industry wasn't dead like this when I was younger. It's so pathetic now I'd be ashamed to even admit I played computer games. Everyone would (rightfully) assume that I like kiddie console ports.
