Make sure you have the latest graphics drivers for your card.
Set your screen resolution to match the native resolution of your flat
screen. Then ensure that TR is using the same resolution.

I had the same problem on my wide screen flat panel.
I am running an nVidia graphics card. In my case, I was able to fix it
in the nVidia Control Panel.
If you are not running an nVidia card, perhaps your card has a similar
option.
On the left side of the nVidia Control Panel, click on "Display", then
"Change flat panel scaling".
Then, on the right side, change the setting from "Use my display's
built-in scaling" to "Use NVIDIA scaling with fixed-aspect ratio".
The only problem I have now is that the game cannot run at my monitor's
native resolution. As a result, it isn't crystal clear, but very playable. |

Ok. I have vista and it has a proportion-keep ratio alternative in graphics
I put on that
now.. but what's funny is that the level I'm playing now has fixed the
ratio(before I did this).
It's built into the exe file I think. Lara is long and thin now:P

Oh forgot to mention, it's a standalone great level, called Spectrum.
Download it from trle.net.

Standalone levels for TR? Do you have to have that particular version of
Tr installed to play it>?

Oh cool! I played that level!
If your graphics card can't sort out the aspect ratio by itself, then you're
probably just going to have to put up with a weird Lara. If its just a
resolution problem, then...yeah...she's gonna be fuzzy!
You gotta remember that the program (TR4, yeah?) came about a while before
modern hardware was around and future proofing software against hardware
inovations is pretty much impossible.
Play with the options on the graphics card, and the settings in the OS, but
I doubt you're gonna get much better than what you have now.

sometimes custom level makers make a standalone level, they make
their own folder and exe file that you just push(no innstalling files)..
that's all.
And this particular level made the correct ratio on my widescreen laptop,
wish they all were like that:(
