I knew the phenomenon exsited but I had never seen it before. Me
and a friend were doing the Warrior quest out on Affray Island by
Ratchet. It was his turn to do the battle thing on the grate where
you fight a few thugs in a row. Sort of feels like a rite of
passage thing. Anyway my buddy is engaging the first baddy, along
comes a level 70 fully decked out in purples and one-shots everything.
Then asks, "How do I make them come out?" Sigh. Anyway it wasnt
that big of deal, my buddy could have just abandoned the quest and
reacquired it, but still. How often do you see someone playing a
toon that is leveled far above their abilites and game knowledge?
What is it usually, someone playing a borrowed toon?

I sure have been running into a lot of folks lately that obviously did not
level the high level toons they were playing. I suspect account buying is
getting more popular.

Could be someone playing a character that isn't their own.

Could be someone who purchased that character from someone else.

Could be someone who paid to have it power leveled.

And could be the inevitable result of a game that rewards people for
time played and not for playing skill. WoW is horrible at that. As
long as you are out killing mobs or completing quests of an
appropriate level, you will eventually reach 70. The only thing
preventing anyone from ever ultimately reaching 70 is their own
actions. Same thing goes with the gear. You don't need to be a good
raider, 5-manner, or even good at PvP to get epic gear now. All you
have to do is enter BG's all day long and eventually, you have enough
marks and honor for epic gear. He could have gotten his gear from
AFKing in BG's. A horrible player could convievably get T6 raid gear,
provided he was in a guild who didn't mind dragging him along through
instances without him contributing to the overall goal.

Thats when you tell him there is no way out and he has to go roll a
new character, as he doesn't deserve to be level 70.

Actually, I did exactly that. Smile (except for the 'deserve' part).

But then someone told him how to get out. I suspect that someone
didn't check the lvl on the poor helpless 70.

I've got a lvl 70 and 4 other alliance characters and I've never
fallen in the canal....

most likely the person in question was asking for the quickest way
out...

Well i been playing the game nearly 2 years now and i didnt know about the
quest you were on becuase ive never lvld a warrior.

So i would have killed everything too as i would have thought i was helping
you out.

So why do you think he hasnt lvled his character?

Well, it is a level 30 quest for one thing. Also, a 70 with any sense at all
doesn't come in and bork a level 30 payer's quest. You can't asssume you are
"helping out."

true. my idea of helping someone out when I run past them is to drop
buffs and heals if possible. Otherwise I just leave them be. Hell, my
pally is the most generous toon I have because I am always dishing out
blessings or heals to random people.

I usually don't help people, but last night I just had to.

Was in Ogrila doing daily quests. There was a lot of alliance around,
very few horde. Not a good mix on a PvP server. I was finishing up
my dailies when I saw an undead mage attempting to capture a ray, and
accidently pulled 2 boars when he attacked the ray. I dropped in and
pulled 1 boar off him. He captured the ray and killed the other
boar. Not even a thank you.

And the inevitable did happen. One alliance player decided to try and
start ganking horde players. He was really stupid about it though. I
had turned in my quests to the ogres and was heading to the skyguard
area to turn in those quests. I was flying low heading out of the
ogre camp when a warrior on an epic engineering flying mount flew in
dismounted and attacked me in the air. Of course the first thing I
did was go straight up, out of the range of anything he could
effectively do to me. But he also did this so close to the guards
that he aggroed them and died. I flew back in to laugh at him before
turning in my quests and leaving the area.

Well its similar to a boxing ring with a bunch of spectators. They
announce each competitor one-by-one. Also (though I didn't mention
it) the lev 70 was a warrior, so one would think that he might have done
the quest back when he was lev 30 or so. Also he was hanging out
in a level 15-30(ish) area and he asked us how to make more bad
guys come out. The guy simply did not seem like he was even familiar
with what a quest was, as it would have seemed pretty obvious that
we were on a quest. So if you are a lev 70, and you see a group
of people and toone standing around a boxing type ring watching a
one-on-one at a time fight, I am not sure your first thought would
be to go one-shot the bad guys. My buddy was not in trouble, the
lev 70 just kind of jumped ahead of him and one-shotted.

Mine too with my priest, just heal and buff. If you help with the kill
you'll take away XP so I try to avoid that after I got chewed out...
Twice, within 30 minutes or so.

Damn, one kill is going to set someone's leveling back, verses getting
killed and getting NO XP? Heal & buff.

For what it's worth, you just wrote my reply for me... Also 2 years, and
also had never heard of this quest before. I have 6 level 60+ toons,
all of which I personally earned every XP...
