Hey all,
In pvp battles I sometimes see a hunter fight melee, drop out of combat, put
a trap down and take some distance as his target steps on the trap to
continue fighting ranged.
How does this work? How do you leave combat mode while being attacked?
And to make it work really fast, I suppose they use a macro. Which macro?
As I would like to be better in pvp this seems a must have technique!!
Thanks in advance,
Dennis |

As I recall, you have to feign death, drop your pet out of combat
somehow, then you can unfeign and be out of combat and able to drop a
trap. There's a macro somewhere to do it.
More details than that I don't know.

Actually, you need to take your pet out of comabt *before* you FD. You need
to set it to passive to reliably do that. Then feign death, get up again,
drop the trap and then re-atack with your pet and yourself.
As for macros, try googling for ["feign death" pet passive] or something, I
am sure you will find something. A solution has been posted to this group a
couple of weeks ago, but I can't recall what the subject of the post was.

Yes, I know about Disengage. It just doesn't seem to work most of the time.

Disengage does *not* take you out of combat. It just helps to loose aggro
back to your pet (or some other person).

Make a macro
/cast Freezing Trap
/script PetWait(); PetPassiveMode(); ClearTarget();
/cast Feign Death
(you need to have the capitalization and spacing exactly as shown...
copy/paste would probably be your best shot.)
You have to mash it for a couple of seconds due to global cooldowns.

A rather misleading description, it seems. "Attempts to disengage
from the target, reducing threat. Character exits combat mode."
Unfortunately, out of combat *mode* turns out not to be the same as
out of combat - just tried a few times to be sure, and you're correct.
No wonder it's never worked for me.

Bit confusing description. What they mean though by leaving 'combat
mode' is that it takes off your auto-attack. Otherwise, you'd try
letting them know you're not dangerous followed immediately by a
back-hand when they turn around.

The same way vanish sometimes fail, this one sometimes fail too. If the
pet is struck between the feign death global cooldown and the freezing
trap/drink crystal water action, then you pop back in combat. Better to
use it when the pet is far away - because he will run to you instead
of staying where he is. |

Can fail if you are hit too, you got to be quick. I uss it all the time
as a hunter, don't like it though. Seens a "cheap" trick but it's the
difference between winning and losing most 1-on-1 fights. |
