When I change the setting of my 922 4dtv box to "dolby digital", I
notice that I no longer get a signal (i.e., I am greeted with silence)
coming through the coax. Looks like all the wiring is still in place
and configured properly receiver-wise, and indeed it used to work a
while back..
Is it possible that the coax circuit is shot? Misconfigured?
(I will try another cable, but the one that's there was working late
last year and up thru January or so when I dropped hbo/etc.)
Thanks...

I don't know how the 922 should work, but make sure that you should
be getting a signal when you're testing it. Some boxes don't put out
a signal when there's no appropriate data coming from the satellite
channel.

To what is the other end of the S/PDIF coax connected?

To a Denon 5805... tried a couple different coax inputs, no go.
DVDs still work fine.
Guess I'll swap go swap the DVD cable in to be sure.

You do realize that the 922 S/PDIF will only output sound from digital
channels?
Try toggling between TV and HiFi mode on the 922 and see what happens.

Right. No digital sound from any 100+ channels, e.g. MSNBC just now.
Used to work. Usually kept it digital until needed to use record to the
VCR.
HiFi mode was set.
Cable that works fine with the DVD player doesn't work either.
Puzzling...

I'd have to dig up the manual to verify, but I recall the 4dtv channels
(100 and up) all should be digital through the 922. I recall having to
switch them back to analog in order to record to the VCR.
No sound at all from any of these channels when Dolby Digital is set.
