Er, "pc games", the discriminating purchaser. Good for an analytical
game-review ---- NOT !! No wonder you have no money for decent
computer hardware or a broadband connection. 75% of the currently
available PC FPS games are regurgitated-idea junk and bargain-bin
material even when new (and 95% of the console ones ).

Can you read ? (Sorry, rhetorical question with an obvious answer.)
Just read the Blue's News summary again.

You obviously have no friends left that will download the demo and cut
a CD-R for you.

Yes I read it but one thing that annoys me in this group is
many calling third person action games FPS or not specifying
if a game is played in third or first person perspective.
That for me makes all the difference in the world.

> You obviously have no friends left that will download the
> demo and cut a CD-R for you.

Yes but its not my connection and not my money so at least I
should know if its worthy to ask a friend to download it.
I don't like very much the GTA games, so if it is a GTA clone
in third person perspective neither I want to try the demo or
much less buy the game.
That is why I asked...

And btw I don't use CD-R any more... for over 5 years now.
I don't even have a recorder anymore and never bought a DVD
recorder.
Why wasting blank disks with a demo?
USB memory sticks ROCK! fabulous invention! and perfect for
demos, patches and mods.
Every PC has a USB port and USB memory sticks are so cheap
now and with big stored capacity like 2GB and so small and
so portable... just perfect!
I'm a total fan of USB memory sticks.
For bigger backups like backing up a total Game like DOOM 3,
or Quake 4 or Prey then I use a external USB HDD... I'm also
a big fan of USB HDD
(I use very much backing up a total game specially for games
that do not require the disk inserted when playing cause this
way I never need to install or try to find the original disks
I just connect my USB HDD and do a simple copy/paste which
takes less than 5 minutes and I'm ready to play the game!)

With USB memory sticks and USB HDD who wants CD-Rs or DVD-Rs?

Btw but when it comes to software being sold NEW in Retail then
I'm a big fan of optical disks like the CD and the DVD (movies
also) but always manufactured and not home made recorded.
I total "deleted" from my life home made recorded optical disks

It isn't remotely the same engine, it is streets ahead of Far Cry in
terms of graphics, more reminiscent of the new Crysis game.

You mean once-upon-a-time you were a pirate ? But one day, the
heavens opened and as you fell to your knees quivering in the
brilliance of the glory, a voice said:-

" Thou art the one I have chosen to move amongst the heathen, the
great unwashed, to spread the gospel of digital purity, to rail
against the software pirates and against such abominations as Steam
and Starforce that prevent the pirates seeing the errors of their ways
and returning to the paths of righteousness. Go forth my son and
loudly proclaim all such wicked ways as abominations and sure paths to
the eternal fires of Hell, such that that those who hear you may
turn from all unrighteousness and seek my eternal comfort in your wise
words. Also, give generously my son to all purveyors and developers of
first-person-action software, ( except those who sinfully distribute
via that hellfire abomination Steam in defiance of my Holy Word), that
they may see that first-person-action is the only gaming software
blessed as most holy in mine eyes. Go forth now and be blessed. "

You are referring to "Just Cause" ?

The scenery graphics are almost exactly the same as Boiling Point,
except that they are a little fuzzier. Uncannily the same... I wonder
if they are using the Boiling Point engine and scenery objects ? Very
pretty, but not at all in the same league as Far Cry ( or even more-so
Crysis ) Just Cause is a fun ARCADE game.. true physics is pretty
well non-existent, the characters crudely drawn and jerky and the AI
is elementary - just re-spawn lots of baddies until each objective is
completed. Nice for a few hours of mindless fun. No need for any
strategic or tactical thinking.

Boiling point was blocky, this is much better looking. Admittedly, I don't
see where the "better than FarCry" comment is from, but this is a nice
looking game.

Uncannily the same... I wonder

Yeah, it is a very fuin arcade-type game. But it is a bit deeper than that.
There are endless options to complete your goals as I found out just in the
demo. Hell, after replaying the demo a number of times I found out that if
you did enough damage to the helicopter, I did it with the machine gun on
the back of a jeep, you could still win by shooting the helicopter down
before the 1st target got away. Not to mention,. just try a suicide jump
off a steep cliff, then hit your parachute...base jumping! Try the stunt
key while in a car, then jump onto a car next to you while moving! This is
just great stuff...

Yes, indeed lots of tactical options ( as with the totally different
Dark Majesty ) but no getting away from the fact that it is an
arcade-style game and is taregeted to appeal a lot more to the
just-run-'n-shoot crowd than to the think-and-maybe-run-'n-shoot
crowd.

In reply no! ...the insults, the scorn, the names you have called others on
the subject of piracy while secretly harbouring a piracy past means no

Don't you have PC games magazines where you live?

Don't you know anybody / have any friends with broadband who might a)
already have it or b) wouldn't mind getting it for you?
