Hey guys,
I have a lvl 70 holy priest, and have found myself playing a lot in
battlegrounds lately because, at the moment, I dont have the time for
raiding. I therefore am considering respeccing to a more disc-oriented
healing build. Since i am not that good at the number-crunching, and
since a lot of the forum posts i have read are focused on arena-builds,
I am hoping for some advices on how to make a build that is good for
healing (and surviving! Smile ) primarily in normal battlegrounds
(WSG/AB/AV/EoS), and secondarily some casual 2v2 arena.

I have lots of questions but right now i am especially wondering if
"silent resolve" is worth 5 points and if I should go "improved
PW:S"+"deflective shield". When i tried making af build, I intuitively
chose those talents, but I would love to hear what some of you
experienced pvp players are thinking. If you have some particular builds
to recommend I would be glad to see them!

Thanks in advance!

I've tried a holy/disc build and a disc/holy build for PvP healing and
I preferred the holy/disc build.

Pain suppression was nice but I didn't like the fact that it was a
short duration with a longer cooldown meaning that at least 50% of the
time you needed it it was on cooldown. Also, pain suppression has
also been nerfed for PvP since I tried it (in my opinion anyway). I
never really liked reflective shield as you don't see any benefit from
it.

I really like the passive talents in the holy tree that give you
enhanced survivability - Spell Warding, Blessed Recovery and Blessed
Resilience. The first reduces spell damage taken, the second heals
25% of the damage caused by melee (and ranged?) crits and the third
gives a chance (up to 60% I think) of making you immune to crits for a
while after receiving a crit.

I would probably take silent resolve for the same reason as you would
(although looking at my last PvP build I didn't) but as you say it's
questionable whether it's worth it. I suppose that we have shamans,
priests, hunters, warlocks with a felhunter and warriors (only certain
specs?) that have dispel magic as an offensive ability and as a healer
we're not overly bothered about someone dispelling our dots.

Other talents I like are in the lower half of the Disc tree - Imp
Fortitude, Imp PW:S and Improved Mana Burn. The mana burn is a good
damage ability 1v1 against Warlocks, Paladins (and probably Mages with
mana shield up) but I'm not sure how good it is in group PvP for a
healer. It is probably a good thing to have in 2v2 arenas though.

I'm not doing arenas right now, but I think the preferred build is
heavy Disc. mainly because is hard for a clothie to be survivable
under direct focus fire. With the exception of 5v5, Shadow is usually
what ppl on my server are looking for when it comes to priestly arena
partners.

As for BGs, I can tell you confidently the best thing for me has been
CoH. If I'm not tops on the healing meter, I'm disappointed. But
often I end up with double the healing of the 2nd place healer.

Having the instant heal allows me to use the environment more, plus
save some people that would have otherwise died during the Flash Heal
(or other) cast time.

Additionally, all your heals will be nice with a 41+ Holy build. I
also take the "Blessed" talents.

I haven't replaced my Primal Mooncloth gear because the MP5 is very
helpful. Besides that I collected the rest of the Mooncloth/Salvation
BG gear.
