| Do you ever get to find out what that creepy guy at Witch Hill wants
the "swingblade" for?
What are your favourite little micro-stories in WoW?

I hate quest chains that develop a story and then just end with no
conclusion.
Archmage Vargoth, imprisoned in the tower in Netherstorm, is the most
recent of these kind of quest chains. You end up flying all over
Netherstorm, doing his little errands, ultimately killing the 1st or
2nd boss of Botanica only to see that he is still trapped and there is
no further quests involving him.
I am hoping, since 2.4 is the final chapter in the aldor/scryer story
and the final showdown with Kael, that this quest will chain into
that. Hopefully I will be able to pick up the quest using his staff,
and not actually have to go all the way out there to get it. |

I don't mind really...

Yes, I guess longer story chains that seem more important to the world
should have some kind of conclusion, I was thinking of little side-
stories where you just get a glimpse into peoples' lives and then move
on. I like that the Witch Hill encounter is just something you see
part of, and end up with an "I really don't want to know..." feeling,
and NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN!
I heard there's a building in Darkshore or Northshire or some name
like that, with 5 children inside standing in a pentagonal
arrangement. Theories?

I always get a laugh when I'm riding by a node in AV and I see
Archmage Vargoth standing there.
As for other unfinished tales, there was some quest that started if
you dug in the loose dirt mound beside Swamp Eye Jarl. For Alliance,
the quest chain made you run around here and there, go investigate the
Shady Rest Inn, then run around some more . . . and then the quest
chain seems to come to an abrupt end. The Horde version of that quest
has a little more resolution, and continues the chain a bit further,
but when I played Alliance, I remember thinking, "What do you mean,
thanks for my time, here's a little coin for my trouble. I want to
know what happened at that Inn!".

I hadn't realized. I haven't played Alliance in over a year, and don't
have any characters in the appropriate level range to do that quest
chain since 2.3 was released.

I understand that they added some more quests to Jarl's string, but I
haven't checked it out. *

Just who is the Master that Arugal refers to in Shadowfang Keep? The
threat of the Worgen invading Azeroth is pretty much dropped after the
low levels (I understand Alliance have their own questline dealing
with them from Ashenvale into Duskwood).
One of the most tantalizing IMO is a Horde quest in Hillsbrad to
retrieve some stone fragments "stolen" from Lady Sylvanas and kill the
traitors responsible. On the face of it, no big deal. But if you
read the journal one of the human NPCs drops while doing the quest,
you'll see an entirely different side of the story. Sylvanas may have

In a similar vein is the Missing Diplomat quest chain where you find
the king has been kidnapped. It goes just so far where you get a ring
as a reward but then it just stops. No information on the fate of the
king, no information on who kidnapped him or why. Strangely according
to Thottbot the king is in the game (on Alcaz Island) but there are no
quest to rescue him and if you are Alliance you can't do anything with
him if you do get to him. It looks like they originally had plans to
do something in extending the quest chain but then dropped them. |

It goes further since the new Dustwallow content got added, but sadly
doesn't reach a conclusion yet - however it does give some very nice hints
about who might have been involved in the kidnapping, really adds a lot to
it if you've done a certain higher level epic chain around SW. Hopefully
one day they might actually complete it!
