This seems to be a partially implemented feature that TiVo has
never advertised associated with either Guru Guides or the
parental control feature. You have to have "opted-in" as far
as privacy goes (which both the above features require). It
suddenly started happening about the time that Guru Guides
came into being, thus the conjecture of a connection there.
It's not something that can be depended on, but seems to often
happen on disk replacements, but never on whole machine replacements.

It would be a nice thing to have available more generally!

Do you have Tivo desktop connected to it?

Wonder if it could store such data?

And not on just a "Don't panic, wait a couple of days, see if the
faeries put it all back for you" basis... (:

I'd love to have a way to use Tivo Desktop to do it.

Could it be unintended consequences of the data collection so they can post
stats on "most recorded"?

No, they get all of that from the log files on the unit.

It is related to Guru Guides and KidZone. If you turn either of them
on you're prompted to 'Opt-in' including granting permission for them
to upload some personally identifiable information from your box.
This is because both Guru Guides and KidZone have web-based management
components and they need to have your SP/ARWL list on the server to
keep it in sync with the Guru Guides or KidZone recording settings.

This was discussed with TiVo when these features launched, they
confirmed this is what is happening.

I would like to see them expand on this and let us REALLY manage our
settings from the web. As well as deliberately backing up and
restoring the settings when we want to.

Including thumbs up/down ratings, this is my #1 wish feature, so I hope
TiVo implements it.
