Tanks obsolete?

Every time I make a tank (most recently a Will/Mace on Freedom) I have
to either /hide or set to automatically refuse invites, since I get
loads of invites (usually from people in other zones.)

At the high end it may be different, but in the low levels, everyone
seems to want a tank around.

I don't particularly want you to FOAD, myself. You'll be more of

*shrug* Okay. I've always liked tanking, although my ice tank is
frustrating - even with vet powers, he has the offensive power of a wilted
dandelion. Great shields, great aggro-taunt, Ice Slick alone makes him
worthwhile... but I have other alts that could sneeze foes to death quicker
than he can.

Have to think about whether to keep the Shield/Axe combo for the new Virtue
rollup.

Ice/Ice I take it.

I find SS and EM are the better ones for a solo play tank (and do
relatively well when teamed.)

I have patience, but it gets so tedious killing things with a really
weak assault set.

I'm considering rolling up another shielder.
The click status protection is a large negative for me, but probably not
a set killer in the long run, and I do rather like that one tech shield.

Probably a Ma/shield or Shield/SS or shield/EM.
War mace is a decent set I guess, but there's lags between the attacks
that I just don't care for, while the others are faster and more
flowing.
