I have found the best way to play TR1 on the PC is using ePSX, a
Playstation emulator. I have TR1 for both PC (Glidos and non-Glidos) and
Playstation, but with the PSX version, you get much better soundtrack
etc. ePSX is a bit of a pain to set up, but well worth the effort.
On the subject of your controller, though, can you assign 'keypresses'
to each controller button? If so, then simply assign your keypresses,
then configure the PC version of TR1's input to match. (I think you can
configure input config on TR1, can't you?)
Cheers
