Trying to multiple use my banblade to allow for the shadowsword and
other subtypes that use the same tank destroyer hull and turret
shape.

I am using the measurements from the IA1 line drawing. However I
wanted to use the engine bay from the baneblade to avoid having to
scratch build that too. After alot of cutting through the thickest
section of the model I managed to seperate the engine deck from the
turret ring section. They produced the underside stupidly as two
parts. why not the top deck too. would have made modding it easier.

Anyway due to the longer engine bay you have to place the turret
forward of the original IA1 model. I have the choice of shortening
the turret or allowing it to come up to the back of where the foremost
sponsons sit. I am leaning towards leaving it as is and having the
volcanoe cannon jut sufficiently proud of the tank body similar to the
old shadowsword.

Partly this is due to the turret size on the baneblade pissing me off
for being too small. Its as if the designers had never seen the
inside of a turret or understood why the turret ring size actually
matters. Where the hell is the gun's breach meant to fit and what do
they do with the spent shells?

Go here for some great tips and inspiration. There's a guy did a
shadowsword recently that looks better than the FW one.

Any specific one you meant. Went through the search and covered all
the shadowsword convertions. Some are quite sucky but there are a few
scratch ones which do look good. Not sure if it helps my turret
problem as the nicest one had not finished the back yet and it was
just a squared off box. The guy with the 10 baneblades is a bit mad
but they do look cool. Althought he turret armour is a bit basic.

Try this one

Look for the pics of the "Decimator", which is this guy's attempt at a
"pre-heresy" Shadowsword predecessor. It's really nicely done. Check page 3
for plenty of pics on the weapon building and details.

Wow! I am duely inspired. Pity Forgeworld and GW can't seem to put
out stuff that good.

Cheers for the link. I may now be accused of outright copying but at
least I'll have a better model.
