The best remake I have played is Subtrade:Return to Iranha.

someting like 10 years ago, when it didn't look anything like it does

I think that was someone elses version fo horse.I saw one like that also a
long time back. This guy has tried faithfully to recreate it. Altho he
couldnt help but toss in a couple of improvements it didnt hurt it like
others Ive seen.

There are many efforts to recreate Master of Magic also but all of the ones
I look at seem to be determined to "improve" it to the point that I no
longer consider it to be MoM.
