Here Hongkong Classical majiang refers to the majiang game popular in
Hongkong in about 1920s~1930s. The reconstruction is based on Tam Wing-
Kwong 1925(1st edtion in 1922, thanks to Julian), Edgar S. Winters
1923, and a 1941 Chinese majiang manual. This is just a draft
version.
Base score: 10 pts
MP/CP/MK/CK of 2s~8s: 2/4/8/16 pts
MP/CP/MK/CK of 1s, 9s and Non-Seat/Round Winds: 4/8/16/32 pts
MP/CP/MK/CK of Seat/Round Wind and Dragons: 4/8/16/32 pts + 1 dbl
MP/CP/MK/CK of Dual Wind: 4/8/16/32 pts + 2 dbl
Pair of Seat/Round Wind and Dragons: 2 pts
Pair of Dual Wind: 4 pts (sometimes 2 pts)
Impure One-Suit: 1 dbl
Pure One-Suit: 3 dbl
Closed Wait: 2 pts
Edge Wait: 2 pts
Fishing of 2s~8s: 2 pts
Fishing of 1s, 9s and Honors: 4 pts
Selfdrawn: 2 pts
All Chows: 1 dbl (selfdrawn OK, two-sided fishing OK)
All Pungs: 1 dbl
Moon from the Bottom of the Sea: 1 dbl (limit for 1-Dot)
Blossom on the Roof: 1 dbl (limit for 5-Dot)
Robbing a Kong: 1 dbl (limit for 2-Bamboo)
On 2nd Kong: limit
Heavenly Hand: limit
Earthly Hand: limit
Big Three Dragons: limit
Small Three Dragons: 1 dbl
Big Four Winds: limit

That doesn't easily divide into 3, so is that 200 to each opponent?
And maybe my assumption about the Shanghai Classical 300-point false
MJ penalty being divided was wrong?

200 points to each opponent, and doubled if from/to the dealer. |

My purpose of this post is to originate a comparison between Hongkong
Classical (1920s~1930s) , Shanghai Classical (1890s~1910s), and
Shanghai 1920s. I hope someone could post a summary of the scoring
chart of Shanghai 1920s, for I have not had enough materials. I have
in hand a 1941 Chinese manual, in which "无奇不有"(nothing strange
excluded) majiang(Shanghai 1930s) is described. "无奇不有” means various
special hands.
