I am looking for recommendations for good military strategy games. I
have enjoyed close combat III and IV (and hated Squad Leader because of
its hoky board turns transformed for PC).

I would be interested in recommendations for similar strategy games at
any level of command.

When I go to the store and browse, I see games high on graphics. I want
good graphics in my 1st person shooters. I don't need elaborate
graphics in strategy.

I generally play by myself in bits of free time so good AI would be
nice. The computer is too easy to beat in Close Combat.

Over in the war historical newsgroup is a thread about: Sean O'Connor's
Firefight.
It is similar to Close combat. I don't own it but there were some good
posts about it.

Operational Art of War 1 and 2 should be a good start. There are some
heirs to the Close Combat series out there, but their names fail me, I
think G.I Combat is the one to avoid.
