RESULTS & ANSWER KEY for Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz #269 (GOLQ269)

Congratulations to six entrants who each had perfect scores and
also identified all 27 songs on the quiz. They were Barry Silk,
The Village Idiots, The Coasters, Delphi Trivia Club,
Really Rockin' In Boston, and Will McCorry. Mike Weaver,
The EJ'S & Co. and James White each scored 480.

Recently I discovered that I have been derelict all along in failing
to announce my policy to introduce as many new songs to the quiz
as is reasonably feasible.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to enter.

The median score was 479, the mean 447.

Rich Ardini will be posting GOLQ270 soon.

The more well known Johnny Cash version came the next year.
It was written by Kris Kristofferson.

I grow impatient for a love to call my own
#22) The Supremes: "You Can't Hurry Love" (1966) [1] {1}

#23) The Timetones: "In My Heart" (1961) [51] {-}

There are also pressings entitled "Here In My Heart"
according to Whitburn.

#24) The Ventures: "Walk - Don't Run '64" (1964) [8] {n/c}

Howard Teitelbaum includes two Youtube links. The first
is the original "Walk,Don't Run!" by Johnny Smith (1954).
The second is Chet Atkins (1957) from which The Ventures
Bob Bogle knew of the song. Howard says Bogle passed away
recently.

I would have used the 1960 hit version for the quiz, but
alas it's one I don't have on a 45.

(Much) more than me
Ah-ah ahh
#T1) The 4 Seasons Featuring the 'sound' of Frankie Valli:
"Everybody Knows My Name" (1966) [-] {-}

Track from the LP WORKING MY WAY BACK TO YOU. The album cover
adds the line AND MORE GREAT NEW HITS. That subtitle didn't
end up being a self fulfilling prophecy. However it does
contain some good nuggets, including this one, in my opinion.

The EJ'S & Co. get extra credit for their exact answer.

It was written by Bob gaudio.

For your smile for your eyes for your love baby
I would go along the way
For your smile for your eyes for your love baby
Mademoiselle, do you speak anglais?
#T2) Herman's Hermits: "L'Autre Jour" (1966) [-] {-}

Track from the LP BOTH SIDES OF HERMAN'S HERMITS (North American
version). A bit later, a British release had a different track
listing and album cover. On that album, the song is listed as
"Je Suis Anglais (L'autre Jour)". From what I can tell from
listening to sound clips, it's likely the same recording.

It's unusual, but there's no indication who wrote the song. I did
find a web page that claims it was written by Jerome Bernet.

Don't know if there is any connection, but Peter Noone ended
up marrying a French woman a couple of years later.

=============================================================================

This chart ranks the songs/artists from most to least recognized. The second
number on the line denotes the average number of points scored on that song
(total points divided by number of entrants, to 1 decimal place). For
comparison purposes, tie-breakers are scored here on the usual 20-point scale.

That should be 1963, not 1956.
