Post subject: Quick question on XBOX live gold membership - credit card still needed?
Archived from groups: uk>games>video>xbox (more info?)

Hi Folks,

I notice that a 1 year subscription package to XBOX live Gold is on sale for
around £39.95 at the usual suspects.

One thing that put me off purchasing this a few years back with my old Xbox
was the requirement that you provide credit card details, even though the
subscription was prepaid, so that auto-renewals could be charged. For
various reasons I'm dead against continuous credit card authorities.

Is this condition still in place? I read the box and this time around there
was no sign of "Credit card required" as it was on the old packaging,
however some of the small print was exceedingly tiny and I didn't have my
glasses with me Smile

Can anyone advise?

Just buy an xbox live pre payment card with no need to add card details
anymore.

Thanks for that. I'm glad they dropped the silly credit card requirement -
I'm sure it put a load of people off. The link looks good.
