Gaming will be a bit limited this weekend as a friend will be staying.
However, I plan to sneak away to the computer and play.

Painkiller (PC) - Although a few years old, this game has largely been
ignored because I was more concerned with Dark Age Of Camelot. It's
enjoyable enough but after a few levels of having waves of creatures
sent against me I need to play something else so..

Clive Barker's Undying (PC) - This game dates back to 2001 and uses the
Unreal engine. Although it got critical praise yet was largely ignored
by game players. Not sure why I never got around to playing this as I
got it before DAOC.

and that's about it.

Wish Crysis was this week not next though Smile

I'm thinking about downloading the Two Worlds demo on the 360, just to see
if it's really as bad as the reviews say. Apart from that, my weekend may
be free of gaming unless I find some interesting stuff shopping this
weekend...

Was a time you could rely on game.co.uk to get the swag to your door
by thursday. They are still blaming the strike action for their
delays, but my guess is they're simply being cheap. Anyhoo:

COD4 (360) - (if it turns up) - The american people on my friends list
have already completed this on veteran, so it sounds like it's a short
game regardless of the difficulty. I'm not a great fan of the single
player game (or haven't been in the past), but the MP beta made me buy
it.

PGR4 (360) - Continuing my slow march to #1. I may also try a little
more of the arcade mode.

HL2 (360) - Near the end of ravenholm, and I've managed to use just
the gravity gun up till now. Starting to get a little scary, but I'm
near the end and I've still got my trusty sawblade to hurl at whatever
comes my way.

TR:A (360) - Completed it on hard but it didn't unlock the achievement
and despite my best efforts to ignore them, I'm actually pretty pissed
off. I thought I'd just made a mistake, but a brief check on various
forums informs me that I'm one of many that this has happened to. The
time trials are next up and are based on level sections this time,
rather than the complete levels, so failing a few times in a row isn't
as unpleasant as it was for Legend.

I was going to play the Uncharted demo as well, but a bug in the demo
means it won't work on owt but a US PS3. Sony have been a bit
defensive rather than apologetic, so it looks like it'll be couple of
weeks before we see this anywhere other than youtube.

Ditto, except s/friend/brother-in-law/ and I've also got shitloads of rehersals
for various bands that are going to eat into my time.

Fortunately, Disgaea PSP just turned up so I can sneak in a couple of turns
every time I get a spare moment so that should cheer me up.

Any other spare time is likely to be invested in World of Warcraft or Super
Paper Mario.

I assume that's for an achievement. Valve only attached them to the
newer games that came with the PC version of Orange Box. Hopefully
they'll retrofit them one day Smile

This weekend I will mostly be playing:

Call of Duty 4 (PS3): As everyone else is finishing it on average in
about 20 minutes, it will likely take mae around sixteen weeks to
complete the single player campaign. Great stuff !!

Ratchet & Clank - Future (PS3): When I get the urge to launch the
controller through the window due to my leet COD4 skills, I'll instead
relax by playing this.

I'll be playing:

Not Phoenix Wright 3 (DS)
Because I completed it last night. Here's something I wrote at rllmuk:

"I've just completed it, after a staggering (estimated) 25 hours play, some 8
or more just on the final case. And?

Epic.

Really.

The way it ties up everything at the end, from not only this game, but the
others as well. Real "final part of a trilogy" stuff. I love the way you
*know* who the killer is, and yet all your theories and evidence just gets
batted aside until a final showdown.

I know these games aren't to everyone's taste, and yeah, some of the
localisation has issues (spelling, grammar, etc.) but you can't deny they're
really very cleverly woven stories with humour, drama, and in the final case
at least, fantastic pacing and edge-of-your-seat plot reveals."

In short, I loved it. And now I'm dying for Apollo Justice!

MySims (Wii):
Well, my wife has caught up with my "level" (having played it for 27 hours,
compared to my 13) so I need to do some overtaking.

Zleda: Phantom Arsegas (DS):
Played it a fair bit last night, and have just got the second bit of map. The
fire dungeon was ace. The sneaking, time-limited, Ocean King dungeon though?
Bleurgh. I hate stealth sections (which is why I stopped playing both Wind
Waker and Beyond Good and Evil).

Ico (PS2)
I must ask - are there stealth sections in this? I might cry if there is.

Phase (iPod)
I've just bought it! Smile

PLAY

Well I was going to be playing Call of Duty 4 single player this week, but
seeing as it only took 4 hours to finish last night, I won't be. Might try
and play some more multiplayer if I can get by the fact I get dumped in
games with foreign speaking people. What a disaster.

PROPER PLAY

This weekend I will be playing Ratchet and Clank (PS3). Been waiting ages
for this, it better bloody be good.

WANT

Assassins Creed and Mass Effect - want them both to be good.

Although I agree with most of what you say, there are some pretty tenuous
plot lines too.

Brilliant game in its own right, but the end of an epic trilogy? I don't
think so. In my opinion, the final case of PW1 was more epic and deep than
this one was.

yeah it is. it's the only one I've seen so far that takes a bit of
time, so I've decided to do it on the first run through. A lot of the
others I think you can do by just jumping in to the appropriate
chapter after completion, so I'm not worrying too much about them.

Is it wrong to just want another, proper, top-down Zelda like LTTP/OoA/OoS/LA?
Another gripe I'm having with PH is the screen feels too small (or Link is too
big), if you see what I mean.
