I'm a lvl 56 Pally and been thinking that perhaps my Talent specs should be
redone. Right now I'm 11/11/25. Can anyone recommend a good spec? I've
been told to drop everything in retributuion, and only put enough in holy to
get consecration then put everything else into protection. Yet others have
said to put more in holly. What do you folks recommend and if possible why?
Also, should I respec now or wait till I hit 60? I would appreciate any
input you may have.

Only respec so drastically if you don't intend to solo much anymore, so
I'd say wait till 60 and see if you spend most of your time grouped and
what you're doing in those groups and respec appropriately.

There are a lot of good specs. What do you like to do? Do you feel
that any part of your current spec isn't helping you much?

You'll be fine. The base abilities of the class are more than adequate
to cover your responsibilities in a 5-man group. I really don't
recommend respeccing unless you have a concrete reason for doing so
(like "I really want talent X").

Right now my wife (a lvl 57 night elf druid) usually do quests together. I
usually act as the muscle and she does backup and healing. But we both know
that we are going to need to do some of the higher level instance so I'd
like to be set so that I could instances with her.

I have a 54 pally, currently at 12/0/31. I have mostly warrior
gear(high stamina/strength, moderate agi) but am working on
lightforge(more int). I would concider my paladin to be a unique spec.
I do an awesome amount of dps, esp early on in a fight. My DPSadin has
its downside. Basically I run out of mana too quick. I open with Hammer
of justice, concentrate, Soc judgement, repentence, Soc judgment. Then
I bascially play the Soc, judgement game. I can get everything to about
half health before they can even do anything. After that I run out of
steam, but my melee ussually will finish them off, saving enough mana
for a bubble and heal if its pvp.

Depends what you do with him

In BG a healadin who knows how to play is an absoloute godsend and can make
our team winners. A dpsadin however
isnt particularly exciting.

Id perhaps level to 60 then decide on role. I do know friends who play pally
say theres no real need to go protection whatever the role.

Take a look at

http://www.theholylight.com/talents.htm

Nice discussion of several good builds and slight variations.

I played a Protection Paladin for a while, and it was fun. Mainly I
played a lot of BGs in the role of making the Horde beat on me so my
team could win the game.

My current Paladin is working on a Holy Shockadin build, which I am
liking even more. I am not as tough in the sense of being hard to
damage, but the healing power more than makes up for it. I can easily
kill 2 mobs 3-4 levels above me at the same time, without mana going
below about 60%, and I have few problems in PVP. At the same time, the
healing power makes me popular for supporting groups.

My DPS is nothing special, but if DPS is your main concern then Paladin
is kind of a funny choice anyway. The one reason I could see to go
heavy into Retribution would be Repentance -- an extra ranged stun
would be very handy.
