Archived from groups: alt>games>warcraft (more info?)

Maybe I just have a short attention span. I got majorly sidetracked
last night by a party of opposing faction players. Honestly there is no
sweeping general difference between Horde and Alliance players. But for
the record, these were Horde.
About a week ago, I got my Rogue to level 60, kinda interesting I
suppose since I started posting here, the day I bought the game, and
have reported progress along the way. Well my character is a 60, now
with 4 epics, and some nice blues. I am playing an alt, a Warlock, whom
I have gotten to 24 now. I have learned to make a habit of parking my
main where my alt is leveling, for backup. Especially since she doesn't
benefit from rest XP any longer.

Well as luck would have it, I was grinding and questing near the Yorgen
Farmstead near Darkshire and the entranance to STV, when a party of 4
Horde come by and gank me on their way into STV. Two Warriors, a Mage
and a Priest.

Well as luck would have it, I was about to log off. So I figured I
would take a minute and return the favor.

I didn't have to look to far, they were all at Nessingwarys Expedition.
I didn't jump them there, as it turns out, there was a 41 Warrior, a 31
Warrior, a 38 mage and a 36 Priest. I don't know if I could take them
all at once, so I follow them stealthed and pick them off one by one.
Very interesting to see them so scared and panicking.

I waited and watched until a clothie was straggling behind, a cold
blood ambush drops a clothie with one hit, so I was able to ambush and
vansish before anybody saw me.

The first time (yes, I griefed them a bit), I made the mistake of
taking out the Mage first, my reason being was to avoid his frost nova,
but after I killed him, the priest ressed him right up. So I knew I had
to kill the Priest first, but they were all itchy and nervous now, and
while fighting mobs, they put the 31 Warrior directly behind the
Priest, just standing guard. But as it turns out, I guess I can stand 6
inches from someone in there 30's without them knowing I am there. So I
ambush the Priest, turn and take a good 3-4 Sininster Strikes on the 31
Warrior, he goes down without making a move, Vansish and Sprint back
while the Mage jumps around like a fool spamming Frost nova and Arcane
explosion. I wait until things settle down (Mage is out of Mana), sap
the 41 Warrior and kill the Mage.

The Warrior comes out of the sap quicker than I though. but I was
finishing the Mage anyway. I figured since this guy is the highest, I
will give him a honest toe to toe, fighting chance. I use no special
moves, just stand toe to toe with him and swing my daggers. Well, I
don't need to tell you how that one turned out, this guy had swords
floating aound him, and was doing all sorts of Warrior tricks, but his
life was dropping fast. I will say, he died, and he died like a Man, he
never tried to run or get away.

I would let them get it all together and start partying again before I
re-wiped their group. All in all, I wiped them 3 times, and they did
manage to kill me once, I was out of Vansih and preperation, and had
nowhere to go but to fight them all, their Priest was alive and healing
and I couldn't get to him because the mage and Warriors were able to
keep me locked down.

I don't look at it as a total ganking, because they did have a chance,
and when they played perfectly, they were able to defeat me.

I only wish there was an emote for "This beating courtesy of your
previous actions against my alt". Because I know (and I can tell by
their sycronized ressurections), they they were probably on Vent, and
they were probably saying something to the effect of, "Whats this guys
problem", or "what an ass".

After I got bored, I quit for the night. I hope they had fun, I can
only assume they did, since they 4-1 jumped my alt who is 7 levels
lower than their lowest member. So I know they love some good world
PVP. Hey, I'm just doing my part to make sure everybody has a good time

It's not for everybody, it does make leveling to 60 much harder, thats
why Bliz won't let you xfer from PVE to PVP, because it is not fair to
everybody else on the server who had to fight their way to the top. But
it is not one-sided, anybody could have a main or a high level friend
who can dish out some payback, so server-wide, you never know what you
might get when you open that can up Smile

I'm leveling my 41 mage. People love to gank mages all the time, maybe
because they have such low health and armor. I can ussually get away
with blink, frost nova, sheep, etc......

The other day in STV I got attacked by about 4 different guys, one a
druid who kept rooting me. All of these guys were around level 39-47,
they were going off as a group to do the bloodsail quests based on the
direction they were going. I hoped on my 60 rogue, flew from IF to STV.
Ran over to the pirate ships where I find, a 47 hunter, 39 mage, 42
mage and a 45 druid. THey are a busy in combat. Its time for revenge,
not only will I gank all of them but I'm camping corpses. They were in
combat, I ambushed the hunter for about 1200, dropping him, quick back
stab crit on a mage for 900 dropping him. Vanish, stun lock druid to
death, and spend a good 5 minutes chasing the other mage down the
beach. I should really invest in an epic mount. Whats really cute is
that the mages tried to sheep me prolly 5 times and every time it got
resisted. Ussually I'm not so lucky, even with lowbie mages.

Big fun for everybody! Thats why we play PVP. One of the best times I
had, was when my Rogue was around 53 or so, me and a equally leveled
Guildie Druid were questing in Ungoro, when a 60 Undead Rogue dropped
us cold by the Lokari Tar pits. Expecting to dish out some payback, we
called in a 59 Guildie Pally, and we all got on vent and rezzed
together, this guy let us heal up, and dropped all three of us, so we
enlisted a 60 Warrior to help, you guessed it, he killed all 4 of us,
several times! This guy was doing INSANE amounts of damage. We took our
beatings, and the next day I put props out on the Blizzard Forums, as
it turns out, he is a regular poster, and has since then helped me a
lot with my Rogue build and specs. Nice guy, but tough PVPer.

I don't believe there is a such thing as 'greifing' on a PVP server,
you can ALWAY leave the area. I am quite sure when people roll on PVP,
they know what they are getting in to.

When I first started this game, my first character was on PVE, based on
the advice of this NG, at around level 10, I deleted that character and
rolled PVP. I enjoy thrill of the hunt from either side.

The only thing that really bothers me about World PvP is when someone
from out of the blue attacks you, then you rez and kill them when you
are little more prepared for a fight (like not in the middle of
attacking a mob) and here comes the part that bothers me, some "friend"
of theirs (don't know if its a real life friend, guildie or just
someone of the same faction) helps them beat on you. And why does this
bother me? Well, I have no proof, but I can only imagine the original
agitator whining or begging for help to kill you, because you are now
somehow griefing them. I just want to yell at them, you started the
fight. Now that you can't beat me because I am no longer pre-occupied,
don't go crying for momma. If you are going to gank, be ready to get
ganked back. I also see nothing wrong with the outnumbering group or
much higher level character getting killed over and over by an alt or
friends of the original character. Its all in who started it as far as
I am concerned.

Now that I am level 60, it doesn't seem to happen to me anymore, but I
still remember when it did. Smile

Later,

<snipity snip>

Heh nice story.

I only have one char on a PvP server, a lvl 30 hunter. I'm now arriving
into area's that are contested and i must admit it's a whole different
game compared to PvE. Always watching my back and the slightest view of
any opposing faction raises my heartbeat to a gallop. Although i enjoy
playing my hunter, it is alot harder to lvl with all the ganking taking
place, i don't think i've seen a higher lvl alliance leave me be just
once. Thats why i havn't played him for a while, but i think i'll brush
the dust off and bring him to life tonight.

Wish my luck Smile

Nice one!

I sort of never made the choice to go PvP realm, cause I joined some
real life friends in their guild etc so I just went with what they chose
some time ago.

But I don't think I'll ever switch - it sounds so trivial, but it is
sooo much fun! Especially when you are dealing some payback and theres
no moral issue holding you back.

I downed a 60 rogue this weekend on twilights hammer with my 47 warrior,
and help from 2 mid 30 party members - we were all quite inexperienced,
but it was a really nice fight. Somehow an unexpected encounter is so
much better than bg - and the fact that you can have an entertaining
fight between a group of lower levels and one high level makes world pvp
really special in my book.

Actually, after a hard session of grinding, that kind of thing can be fun.

Actually his policy sounds perfectly fine to me.
Usually I expect people to not like being ganked, so I leave them
alone. When someone shows me they like ganking by ganging on me
I'll be more than happy to give them the ganking they want.

I fail to see what's wrong with that.
