Hey fellas just want to kind of bounce an idea off of you guys and get
various opinions.

I currently have a Cruisin' World and the Cruisin' USA board set to put
in the game when I want.

I am thinking of getting rid of it and going with a San Francisco Rush
(original one) and then getting the conversion kit to switch it to Rush
the Rock. Cost should be about $800 to do this (figure $600 or so for
the game and then about $150 to get the needed parts to convert it) and
would allow me to play the original Rush and of course Rush the Rock.

I would think I should be able to get at least $800 or more for the
Cruisin' World/USA setup.

Is it worth it to do this, are the Rush series games going to be
better/more fun??

Please bear in mind that I have 2 kids (4 and 7) and they love the
Cruisin' World.

I would naturally love a Rush 2049 but its just out my budget. I would
also love dual sit downs one day but that is not possible either (no
space).

Not looking for anyone to make the decision for me just looking for
your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

Greg

SF Rush have been selling for $750-850 in my area, you might be
spending more for the basic game.

Is your Crusin game a dedicated Crusin World or a dedicated Crusin USA?

SF Rush is more realistic racing vs the Crusin series. The Daytona
Series would be more realistic than the Rush series. I have had them
both, it is really a matter of preference as both games are very good
in their own ways.

Dedicated Cruisin' World. I bought the USA board set to have and swap
into the game when we want to (already have actually). USA is nowhere
near as good as World but its not bad. I have been trying to find an
Off Road Challenge boar as well so that I could swap that in there too
but no luck so far. Eventually I would like to do what Robert Winter
did and put all the boards in the cab and be able to switch between
them. I already have Clay's Multijamma kit to do it but haven't
figured out some of the other aspects yet and I have been unable to
reach Robert as well.

For Daytona is only fun when racing someone else and since I don't have
the room for 2 of them I kinda don't feel the need to go that
direction.

Yep we really like Exotica and we would love to have one but the extra
cost doesn't seem worth it. Also based on research it wouldn't be easy
to swap the other boardsets into it. Plus its extremely difficult to
try and pull off the multijamma setup with Exotica. Although I gotta
admit I am totally in love with this really nice deluxe Exotica thats
at the bowling alley up the street from me. Big sweet a$$ 39" monitor,
dashboard setup etc. Its really cool. I would flip for that but its
so big I don't think it would fit in the house + it costs more than
getting a single Rush 2049.

>From what local ops have said the Cruisin' Worlds have always made them
more $$, Exotica next, followed by Daytonas. I find this odd since my
city (Richmond, VA) is Nascar country but who knows.

I have two dedicated Cruis'n World machines, and converted one (so
far) to Cruis'n Exotica. That game gets the most play in our entire
gameroom.

So, you could find an Exotica boardset (and the necessary conversion
parts) -- the only problem is that it will be expensive. Exotica
boards are still up there in price.

It's funny, I can't tell you how many Exotica machines I've seen on
the East Coast here within the last six months. It seems that every
restaurant, movie theater, etc. have them. They must still be making
decent money.

You won't regret one I have had mine for at least a year.

I have a pair of Rush's and upgraded them both to Rush the Rock Alcatraz.
Regular original Rush isn't really worth keeping long term, but I think Rush
the Rock is an excellent driver that doesn't bring what I think it is worth
in fun to own. I used arcadeservices1.TakeThisOut@aol.com for my upgrade kits although
I recommend you make your own hard drive image on fast, reliable drives - he
sends out like 4 gig 10 year old drives which develop problems quickly -
can't complain about the roms though. Rush is one example where the sequel
(rush the rock) kicked the first version's ass.

Andy

I've owned a Daytona twin - a lot of fun when racing head to head but only 3
tracks.
