I've been sooooo burned by online WW-based chat games, but every now and
then I get an itch to play. The problem is that most of them are simply
stages for people to exercise ego trips. Does anyone know of a WW chat site
that is primarily a place to roleplay? Ideally, I'm looking for a site that
STs post story ideas to recruit players... not a site that has some silly
approval method. Perhaps a site that's Storyteller-based and not cross
platform and city based...? Anyone... anyone...?

Thanks in advance!!

Unfortunately I can't answer Kevin's question.

I've just found two PBP sites that seem quite good so far. I'm always
interested in knowing what else is out there, however. Especially if
there's a good Dark Ages PBP anywhere.

Any PBP recommendations?

Hey Brian...

A person who frequents this newsgroup got back to me with an IRC chat site
that's ST- and story-based. There's a bit of a learning curve to IRC
chatting (you'll also need to download IRC chatting software), but if you
give the format a chance, I think you'll see that it's the only way to play
online. Here's a link to the site's webpage listing of currently running
storylines:

http://stayka.keyspace.de/sqhome/wod/online/onl-rpgs.html.

They have several stories running and a schedule of when they play, making
it VERY different than the usual SeaChat sites I've encountered. Check it
out. Do it. Now. Wink

We're starting a new site that should be open by the end of July or 1st of August. It uses a chat script that's a lot like SEaChat software : http://www.newyorkcitybynight.com

Thanks!

Also try MUSH based chats. MudConnector will point you towards a number of those. A few like Dark Metal Mush are no app.

http://www.mudstats.com/Genre/World%20of%20Darkness.aspx

Mudstats shows current users, high and average for the month

Haunted Memories: Vienna by Night haunted-memories.net 3010
Metro: Toronto by Night metro.spork.com 4201
GarouMUSH garoumush.org 7000 World of Darkness
DarkMetal MUSH darkmetal2039.com 2039
Cajun Nights shakron.zapto.org 7373
Darkness Falling darknessfalling.blueaether.com 4999

Like IRC chat they have a learning curve but they are up pretty much 24/7 for general RP and STs run stories on most of them ona fairly regular basis. Haunted Memories I believe is Victorian era and Revised. Garou Mush is all Shifters. And the others are multiple spheres/venues
