Oblivion, enchanted items disappear

Playing Oblivion for the second time I notied a curious thing.
Enchanting my arch mage hood by a sigil stone with 30% chameleon seemed
to work well. But next time I started the game the hood in the
inventory list was cleared out..
Disappointed I got myself a same sigil stone and this time I enchanted
a silver necklace with 30% chameleon. Same story, next time no
necklace..
Of course, after enchanting, I made a save. I am sure of that and if
not those sigil stones should still be there and they were not.

And BTW if you own the house in Skingrad with the display case upgrade
don't use the small cases. In two of those small display cases I put an
item and they disappeared too <g>.

I have not had this happen. Are you sure the item didn't get
renamed so that it is somewhere in the list where you are not
expecting it? Items you are wearing get removed and put in inventory
when they change by being enchanted.
