Despite being almost two-years old, Nintendo Wii is still a
hit... According to the figures released by eBay for
BlackFriday, Nintendo Wii was the most sold item. The
customers bought 3,171 Nintendo Wiis for an average selling
price of $349 http://xrl.us/NintendoWii1

The second spot in the shopper’s preferences went to Wii
Fit, which sold 1,059 units for an average price of $140
http://xrl.us/WiiFit1

According to eBay’s estimate, Sony’s PS3 was also in great
demand...

The only reason the PS3 would appear to be in great demand on eBay would
be because the older models (20, 60, old80) are backwards compatible,
while all models from the 40GB and onwards (including the current 80GB
model) are not. The black friday bundles on PS3 were pretty pathetic
overall. Walmart's online bundle was, and still is, the best: 80GB lame
PS3 (doesn't play PS2 games), extra controller, DVD controller, your
choice of game and blu-ray movie from a list of about 30 titles all for
$469. Essentially, that's a free movie and game, about a $50 value.

If you really want a PS3 cheap, and don't mind getting another credit card,
Sony is running a deal where if you get a Sony credit card (Visa from
Chase) and buy a PS3 from Sony's online store, you'll get a $150 credit on
your bill. That means you essentially get a PS3 for about $250.

Are you serious with that "lame" comment? There is only ONE console that
has any type of "lame" bundle and we all know who that is. Take a bias
break and read what you type before you hit send.

I read an article on Yahoo yesterday saying the same exact thing and
it really surprised me. I wasn't surprised that the Nintendo Wii was
the most sold item but that it was selling for an average $349.

If you were trying to sell a Wii any other time during the year, you
would be hard pressed to make a profit since the system was going for
just about retail price. Now, the economy's in the tank and people are
paying MORE for the system? That just doesn't make any sense to me at
all.

The other thing that got me was the talk of the Wii being sold out
everywhere. I went to 2 Toys R Us stores, 2 Target stores and 2 Best
Buy stores on Black Friday, later in the day after work, and I saw
Wiis at each of them.

Lame as in gimped, handicapped, etc. Although I'm sure the innuendo
was intended...

Never understimate the level of stupidity in the average ebay buyer. I
once sold a used DVD at auction there for $40--a DVD that was still in
print and available new for $20. Ebay--bad place to buy, GREAT place
to sell.

I once sold pieces of papers to an auction on EBay and made a few
bucks off it. I had multiple bidders for it. Ok, the auction was a
partial list of items sold at an auction of a famous game designer who
died, and his estate was selling off his boardgame collection to pay
his medical bills. The game should of ended up in a museum, but that
didn't happen.

Anyhow, there s a market for just about anything on EBay.

I don't disagree. However, note that the "lame" Xbox 360 bundle is
just 1 of the 3 available models and is actually cheap. With the
Playstation 3, you don't have the choice to get the "non-lame" model
because it's not around anymore... and you pay more for the "lame"
model than you do for any other game console on the market.

His point was that the Black Friday deals just weren't all that
endearing.

And where did you get the idea that the Arcade model has no online
capabilities?

The term "lame" is used appropriately in this sense. The term "'tard"
is not.

That stereotype hasn't applied for a very long time now. I was a
member of eBay from the beginning and agree that the idea of the "dumb
eBay buyer" applied back in the early days when I would sell used DVDs
for more than it cost me to purchase them new in the first place
(although a lack of trust in using credit cards to purchase online was
to blame rather than a lack of motivation to do price comparisons with
sites like Reel.com and Buy.com so "dumb" wasn't really the
appropriate term).

The days of eBay users typically paying more than marginally more for
an item that is in ample supply than it costs at retail are pretty
much long gone. In many cases, I have trouble making more than a
nominal profit on even items that are hard to find at retail just
because many buyers are now smart enough to either realize that the
item just isn't worth them paying more than retail or that the item
will eventually be in stock at the local big box retailer if they're
patient.

I can understand paying a bit more for a hot item that is difficult to
find, but Nintendo was very public about their intentions to make sure
the Nintendo Wii was not in short supply for the holiday season and
they seem to have delivered for the most part (I saw about 40 Wiis
stacked up at the Best Buy in midtown Manhattan at lunch today).

Lame as in gimped, handicapped, etc. Although I'm sure the innuendo

------------------------------------------------------------------------

You mean like no online or backwards compatibility "gimped"? Hmm, that
would be the 360 Arcade which is the main reason that it outsold the PS3 3
to 1 because an overwhelming majority of them were the Arcade (as stated by
MS). I don't use "tard" pack because I think that is pretty offensive but
it didn't get that nickname for no reason.

Somehow I don't think calling the current, non-PS2-compatible 80GB PS3 the
"80GB Tard Version" will win me any admiration except from the ardent
Microsoft fanbois.

That Sony decided to release 2 separate PS3s that both have 80GB hard
drives in them has caused a lot of confusion among people buying the newer
one, and then complaining it doesn't play their PS2 games at all. Besides
which, I'm still annoyed at Sony for this brain-dead decision of theirs,
so calling the current 80GB model the "lame" one made sense to me. If
that doesn't sound good, how about hobbled, lobotomized, damaged, dumbass,
stingy... (Yeah, as though "hi, I have the dumbass PS3..." is going to
fly...lol!)

Unless they changes something, you can't go online without a hard drive,
correct?

Really? I had always been under the impression that you didn't need a
hard drive or memory card to go online. I figured you would need one
if you wanted to download any XBLA games but I didn't see why you'd
have to have one just to connect to Xbox Live.

I checked around and you need at least a memory card to go online because
you can't without a profile and if you want to play certain games, you have
to have a hard drive or multiple memory cards.

So I guess that Target employee was technically right when he told the
mother concerned about her son meeting unsavory folk online that you
can't go online with the Arcade unit.

So does this mean that the Arcade units don't even have dashboards,
then? Users never "sign in" to anything and never see the option on
their systems? Where would they set any preferences at all?
