Post subject: NFL Pro League Football/MicroLeague Football creator with NEW online game
Archived from groups: comp>sys>ibm>pc>games>sports (more info?)

Hello everyone. This is Mike Gibrall.

Some of you may remember the Super Bowl teams I created for the old Super
Bowl Sunday for
the Commodore 64, as well as the Super Bowl teams for Front Page Sports
Football Pro, and the
enhancements I put into NFL Pro League Football and MicroLeague Football 97
and 4.0.

For the past several years, I've been working for
Dave Holt, creator of NFL Pro League Football, as well as the last two
MicroLeague Football games.
He has really wanted to bring back his football simulation, and has finally
done so with a new company.
The company is called SportSims.

http://www.sportsims.net

I was involved in the creation of the players being used in the game. The
old game had players from 1961-1996 at the latest.
I had continued the game with 1997-1999 players for free downloads before I
stopped. Since going to work for Dave, I have made players
for the entire 1960 season, and have continued forward from where I stopped
at 1999, and I will continue forward on a yearly basis (so
long as the company employs me:> ) I also created all Hall of Fame players
from the 1950's. Maybe one of these days I'll make all of them.
First names are also included with Last names, and the 'unique number' that
was introduced during the last MicroLeague version of the game for
career mode has been added for every player.

The game takes on a different structure than his original games. Dave has
added career mode into his simulation. Also a training camp.
And a LIVE DRAFT ONLINE for rookies. Animation, I believe, doesn't exist
yet, but that's coming.

You choose one of 32 cities to host your team (i.e. New York). You start
with a team rostered with historic players. You draft on draft day, trade,
roster moves,
set up a gameplan, and let 'er rip. If you actually win the "SimBowl", I
believe your next season is free. If you make the playoffs, I believe you
get a discount for the next season, but you'll need to read up on all of
that online.

I'm willing to answer any questions here if people are interested in asking.
Check out the new game at http://www.sportsims.net

Hi Michael:

What are the chances the Microleague 97 Football game will be updated
with a better stat package and etc. and be put back on the market?

What are the chances a patch could be developed for download to address
the computer vs. computer animation mode, after a field goal the
kickoff stats aren't registering in the playbyplay, drive summary, or
the team stats?

Hi Johnny

No chance that MicroLeague Football will be updated, as the company went out
of business.

There was acutally a version after the 97 version released. It was called
MicroLeague Football 4.0

Right after it was released, the company went out of business.

It had the exact same graphics, but a facelift on the interface. It had the
guy from NFL Films actually
calling the play by play, which was so cool to hear.

Another feature that came with the game was an attempt at career mode, ala
Front Page Sports Football.
You only got the 96 season with the game, and there were never any other
seasons released for the game,
although they advertised they would be available for purchase at the web
site (but right after the game was
released, the company went out of business). Each player had a first name
to go with the last, and had a 'unique number'
so that you could keep stats for the player when you played the game with
other season that you could buy, but
they were never released.

Why not an interest in bringing the Football game back to compete
against Strat-O-Matic or ActionPC Football ?

The game is realistic enough with just enough good play simulated
graphics. I would buy his game over the other 2 listed, the players
are editable, and with a Windows interface upgrade even better, but the
old game needs a bit better stats package.

The other 2 listed, you purchase the game and play via internet against
an opponent or solotaire.

I wish him luck with his new website, but purchasing time on the
internet just to play the game will turn off many.
