Is there some enchantment or such for medium armor that makes it
effectively light armor? I'm thinking specifically of a druid/barbarian
here, with a low Dex (10), in 3.5.

Ideally it would seem that Hide armor made somehow "light" would be the
way to go. How would I do this?

Mithral. Although presumably to make mithral hide armor you'd need some sort
of metalic beast skin.

Druids cannot wear metal armor without losing some abilities, even if
that metal came from the skin of a beast.

There are some armors in the various expansion books which provide as
much protection as hide but are light armors. I think the Races of
Stone has some, as does Races of the Dragon.

Yeah I figured. I have RotD, maybe I'll check in there.

The druid is an Orc, if that matters.

I had some 'vegetarian' Medium armour in my last campaign made out of
giant insect carapaces. Giant ants I believe, well suited for Druids. I
could see an enhancement like Twilight that would reduce the bulk and
make it effectively Light.

Yes, Mithril.

Err, I can hardly see a mithril hide armor, but I think there's nothing
in the RAW against this.

Only items primarily made of metal can benefit from being made out of
mithral (or is it mithril?)

Why would low Dex require light armor?

Breastplate with an Ironwood cast on it?

Yes for 1 day per level, and this is E6.

Well, sorry, you said 3.5 above. :^)

Both Brb and Drd (in 3.5) can wear medium armor,
why do you want light armor?

Maybe a special breat plate crafted from the carapace
of a giant beetle would be light?

Mithril only if you want to violate Tolkien's copyright....

Which is effectively unenforceable in a home game, of course.

I don't think you can copyright a *word* at all. And from a quick
look-around TSR was sent a C&D by some other company that
had film rights and the issue was never taken to court; TSR
just changed the spelling to claim it was different.

Try making a game with little people named Hobbits and see how far
that gets you.

And BTW, it's trademarks, not copyrights.
