There could be alot. The problem is, it would also require more effort.

And that effort is going to be seen as a greater up-front outlay of
money. So it will be ignored. There is immediate gain by hiring cheap
writers. Fire the expensive, talented people and replace them with fresh
college graduates sort of thinking.

Heck, my company once hired a process 'engineer' that had no actual
engineering experience or training and was a former restaurant manager.
But I bet they got him cheap.

I've had a title that includes the word engineer for 10 years and I
never took an engineering class. When a manufacting process is very
labor intensive, I would value experience in getting people to do things
a heck of a lot more.

When you engineer something that involves people, knowing people is a
lot more important that knowing engineering. As a guy that went out and
solved a lot of "technical" production problems, at least half of them
were in fact people problems.

Well in our case Bob's job was to actually solve process issues. Which
he was totally and completely unqualified for. He was however the
brother of a Business Cell Leader.

I really can't, both because I haven't bothered to read the new ones
and because I've forgotten the old ones. =)
