MORROWIND - are there alternative Main Quest Paths ?

MORROWIND - are there alternative Main Quest Paths ?

I've never finished the Main quest. ..going by a just glanced at walkthrough
I have got around 70% through.

One reason is that I became aware that in the roam-anywhere World the
central quest is very linear .

You have to do tasks as given in that order towards a single pre-decided
ending.

But is that in fact so ??

I tried killing Caius Cosades at the point when he is about to travel away.

The game didn't seem to notice.

There is a mod in which you become a member of the sixth house. You
definitely cannot enter this path after a certain point in the main
quest and vice versa you kill the main path by joining the sixth house
and remaining on this path.
