I just found the newer .EXE easy to use with XP. Just put the file in
the 7th guest folder and click it. I have never used Dosbox but know it
works well after getting it set up. I remember an EXE for 11hour but
don't remember if it was different then the 7th guest EXE (but I think
so). And YES the mouse board game is a pain as it is very random so
there is no walk-though for it.

(I remember I needed to buy a CD drive (2X sony)and a SoundBlaster card
so I could play 7th Guest in my W98 386DX computer.)

I've used Dosbox a few times for older games. Dosbox is a great program and
the programmers who created it deserve a lot of credit. I havent replayed
11th Hour for quite a while. Maybe I will try it one of these days. If I
ever need to play 7th Guest in Win XP, I will look for the EXE file you
mention. Thanks for info.

I think a lot of people had to upgrade something to play 7th Guest. I had
to buy a new video card and remember the guy at the computer store said "are
you buying a new video card just to play one game?" I said "Yes its a new
game and everybody says how ahead of its time and how good it is.". My
computer parts were up to date and above system requirements (except for the
video card).I think I had a 512 KB? Cirrus Logic at the time and the game
wouldn't run, so I got a 1 MB card and it was OK. I had the original
Creative labs soundblaster at the time and it lasted for years before I had
to get a SBLive. But video cards needed to be updated a lot more often.

Yep - I just, 2 weeks ago, updated my ATI X-700 video card to a ATI
HD3650 to play TR Underworld. (which I class as an adventure game, I
know others don't). After 7th Guest the Tomb Raider games keep me
updating. This new one has outstanding graphics!

I think the HD3650 will be a good card, but I still have an AGP card and not
sure if it would be worth it to upgrade just my video card. My ATI 9000 Pro
has been a good card, but its lagging behind my other computer parts, but I
haven't upgraded anything for a few years, so sometimes I wonder now if I
should just buy an updated computer box from Staples, rather than upgrading
my computer parts. I've never played Tomb Raider games. I'm not really into
actioin/combat games except I liked American McGees Alice which I would call
a combination action/adventure. It had a strong adventure story to it. But a
lot of action, jumping, fending off enemies, etc.

Yes, Upstate New york is not far from where I am. Its not too cold today but
was yesterday. We have had several snow storms in the last few weeks. Not a
lot at one time, but frequent and causes a lot of traffic problems while it
is snowing. It started much earlier than usual for winter. Winter officially
started here only two days ago.We usually don't get much snow before mid or
end Dec. We usually only get about 1 white Christmas out of 7.This year and
last it started in 2nd week of November. The temp is going up tomorrow and
it will rain/snowflurries creating slush and Christmas day sunny and day
after it will be a lot of rain and cause flooding. Thats how it goes here.
The temp goes up which causes rain, then goes down and we get snow. The
upper US states especially Buffalo often get a lot more snow than we do in
southern Ontario.
