Which of course is about half the channels...

Think I had a close-by lightning hit a few weeks ago, at which point
there was a power outage for several hours (the subwoofer's power
supply was the other casualty...).

Noted that could not get Ku band the following week (digitals). [Still
get the C band side okay, analog and digital, although perhaps the guide
is being a little more flakey than usual lately too...]

Replaced the Ku LNB with a new one. It worked for a little bit (a few
minutes), albeit rather flakily (the signal seemed to fluctuate a bit,
and the picture seemed to go away when the signal strength dipped). But
after about 3 or 4 minutes it went dark altogether again.

I suppose it could be wiring issue, but I would have to guess that
something got cooked inside of the 922.

Any ideas? Can LNBs be fried by such a thing (kind of pricey
diagnostic..)? [Are there fuses inside the 922?]

Have about half a year of C+Ku subs left? Do you think they (NPS) would
transfer them to a new (i.e., different) box?

Thanks...

--Frank

PS Any estimate of typical price to service a 922?

I'd check the wiring. Even just running a temporary piece of RG6 out to
the dish isn't a bad idea just to isolate the problem.

I would check the cable by swapping it at both ends with the known good one
currently being used for C-band. Might be a bad termial at the Ku LNB since
it worked for a short while after that was moved.

Hi Guys,

Sounds to me, that the DC voltage supplied by the DS922 is dropping out.
You might want to monitor the DC voltage to the LNA and make sure it steady.

Well, once again I have to thank you. It worked!

(And now I even have a backup Ku LNB too...)
