I've only ever seen the first one. It's just one of those movie series
that invades culture, whether people know the origins or not.

There aren't any sheep in Mad Max, so I don't think it took place in
Australia.

Girls in puberty can be much worse. For one thing, they are much
stronger and taller and they understand better how the world works
(which equates more damage).

Add to that their disturbed emotional and moral systems and you've got
something pretty problematic!

Yes. 17 is nearly legal to have a crush on in most countries (unless you
are underaged yourself in which case you can have a crush on other
people that are underaged till one of you hits 1Cool.

Still, she kicks ass, which is most important to me.

Why would they have a problem with you? You could read them stories

Thank you! But by the time I want children both me and my gf will
probably be too old for it (quite common in Holland according to recent
studies in the EU; we've got the highest number of dead before birth in
Europe, twice that of Germany).

It's post apocalyptical. You know, after the sheep brought the country
to its knees and subsequently died of overheating. You didn't think
anyone need all that wool, did you? It's for keeping them in line!

Second episode is my favourite. The gang that terrorises the desert is
really brutal and their humour is totally dark.

I also think it is romantic in some way, but most people would watch it
for the action alone!

I would say watch beyond thunderdome if you are a big fan of Tina Turner
only.

With the timescales were are talking about here, most species tend to
diverge. Some even manage it in a few decades, although humans seem not
to have changed much in the last few millennia.

Seriously, I tend to talk way too much about any subject I happen to be
learning about at the time. Of course, I'm very fond of science, so
that kind of subject gets more airtime. But you don't have to worry
about me trying to convince you the chicken came before the egg and all
that implies.

There is a really interesting movie about it by David Cronenberg called
Videodrome. It stars with Blondie as an snuff movie actor and I believe
she is still alive so they probably didn't hurt her.

Lost Highway by David Lynch also has some snuff movie aspects but it is
a lot more difficult to understand and it is more psychological, not
horror like Videodrome. On the other hand, Marilyn Manson gets killed in
lost highway iirc, but that is not really what the movie is about.

What the hell is 'gene flow' supposed to mean?

Oh, science away on me. And eggs obviously came before the chicken, as
birds are young compared to reptiles.

It just refers to two (or more) populations that have access to each
other and naturally mate with each other, thus keeping the genes similar
enough to maintain successful breeding between them.

If gene flow stops, that's when two new species may develop from the one.

Ah.

::nods::

Through human populations were pretty much isolated until about a
hundred years or so ago.
