If you ever wondered what I would picture Laiva like... Well, I stumbled
over this movie and my first thought was: Fit's like a glove. On seconds
thought I still think this actress is pretty close, so I made a few
screenshots and decided to share. Let me know what you think.

After bumbling my way through a German website, I'd have to say that
she's just about what I'd imagine too.

But why do you want our opinion on this? Thinking about making a movie? Wink

She is awfully young. I imagined her less vulnerable.

What was the movie? Was is a phantasy setting? Like Narnia?

Actually she (the actress) is ten or eleven, even though she could pass
as a bit younger, I think. Considering that Laiva's age is explicitly
said to be eight going towards nine. (BTW, I'm not so sure I got that
last half-sentence right. I think I'm close, but I slightly messed up
the phrase.) So actually the age should fit. And about the being
vulnerable: She is. Except when she is fighting for her life or in her
head-first-through-the-wall, I think.

> What was the movie? Was is a phantasy setting? Like Narnia?

Um, it was the heart warming family movie kind. Nothing fantasy about
that. But I liked the lead actress Wink

Oh, sorry about that. I hadn't though about that. It just seemed the
obvious choice to post it.

Nah, and be now she'd be sixteen or so anyway. Besides, the really hard
part to cast would be Mynor.
I was just being curious how much my vision overlapped with yours. And
by the looks of it you were on the same page as me while Neo wasn't.

P.S.: I'm about to finish up the next instalment of ATC. It just needs a
bit more dialogue (the easy part) and some polishing (the hard part).
Hopefully I'll get it done today, or at least tomorrow. Feel free to
poke me with a pointy stick or something when I fail the deadline...
Just not /too/ hard, all right?

You're the writer, so it is really your fault Wink

I guess I want Laiva to be more mature. Thank God there is Aya now! I am
really not comfortable around children. Even when I was younger I rather
hang out with older people than with youngsters my own age. Children are
highly unpredictable to me and I don't feel like paying attention to
them all the time (which is why not getting my gf pregnant seems like a
really good idea).

Of course it is, but I think one out of two isn't really that bad.

> I guess I want Laiva to be more mature.

I don't think she'd be that damn thick headed then. And it wouldn't
quite work for other reasons as well, I think.

> Thank God there is Aya now!

Well, she definitely is a lot more mature.

> I am really not comfortable around children.

No problems with children here, although it might be disputable the
children would have a problem with me.

> Even when I was younger I rather hang out with older people than with

Oh, yeah. Unpredictably, your name is Laiva. I wouldn't want to be
responsible for that particular rascal. I don't think most children are
that bad, though.

> don't feel like paying attention to them all the time (which is why
> not getting my gf pregnant seems like a really good idea).

That's something between you are her, obviously. Still, I don't think
you would necessarily be bad as a father. IMHO own children are very
different from anything else.

Sorry, got carried away. Wait, you've actually got machetes? I though
those were only used in Africa and South America.

Well, blackberry bushes that have run amok for 30 years tend to resemble
such environments.

It's from a movie, 'Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome' specifically. From the
Mad Max trilogy of movies. I'm not exactly sure how much detail I need
to go into, but Thunderdome is a metal gladiator cage in the movie.

I remember at least one of those... Anyway, wasn't weren't the Mad Max
movies kind of Australian?

That is actually the worst movie of the trilogy imnsho. I mean, Mel
Gibson loses his car right at the beginning of the movie right? Mad Max
without a car just ... isn't.

I happened to have a crush on 'warrior woman' Virginia Hey in episode 2
of Mad Max. I had tears in my eyes when she died at the end of the
movie. "You don't realize what you've got until it's gone" (slightly
unrelated).

I have the trilogy on DVD btw Smile
