I doubt they'll keep to it, but it's nice that MS's rather splendid
idea is catching on.

I really have absolutely no doubt that Europe will _not_ be included in
this global simultaneous release...

This is nintendo, for gods sake. Animal crossing?

Maybe it will be released in europe but only have 4 units total
allocated for all of europe.

Hell, it seems to work for Sony as a marketing tool. Advertisment
through "The PSP has sold out and are selling on ebay for 500 quid" in
the Sun...

Queue another statement, "We hoped for a simultaneous release but
couldn't be arsed to put the effort in to make it happen"

I don't think that's quite the same, AC was never planned to have an EU
release at all at the time the Jap/US ones came out was it?

no, they only released it here because they realised how well it was
selling on import.

The logistics involved in a simultaneous worldwide release must be
horrendous. I think that any company that attempts to do it, is pretty
damned brave.

If MS cannot manage it with the 360 properly, despite the determined
effort they have made and with all the marketing and logistics clout
that they have behind them, then it comes as no surprise to me that
others will struggle to achieve it.

How about Mario Kart: Double Dash? Or Advance Wars? Or a large number
of DS titles?

Nintendo have been getting a lot better of late.

Mario Kart DS is to be virtually simultaneous (same week). Also,
Superstar Saga 2 is currently down to come out in Europe first due to
the success of the first game here (but that may change).

The DS had the shortest Nintendo console release period, from first
release (in the US) to last release (in Australia, I believe).

And the US has only just got DK: King of Swing.

Maybe the globe they're referring to with 'global' is that OTHER globe
which doesn't include Europe.

you seem to be missing the meaning of "simultaneous" which is what the
original argument was about, not us getting stuff first for a change
