Anybody played Iron Phoenix and have impressions to share? Between this,
Gunvalkyrie and Spikeout, that's three Xbox titles from Sega that snuck in
under the radar, had no sales numbers, and then snuck out again. I'm not
sure if the lack of publicity is because of Sega's usual media savvy, or
because Microsoft's core market doesn't cross over with Sega's core market
on the venn diagram.
-KKC, who wonders if Nokia ever thought about using Patrick Stewart to
voice their gaming phone commercials...

I don't think this is a Sega developed game (it's not on sega.jp), I
think they just published it. |

I dimly remember playing the OXM demo version of the title.
IIRC, the game was too hectic, but I feel that way about all party
fighters, from Powerstone to SSB.
Yeah, it wasn't a 'real' Sega game*. From a brief websearch, I
think it was Sammy.
* now, Otogi wasn't really Sega either but has more of a Sega "feel"
nevertheless.

When you get it, either stop by the local EB Games or shoot me an email. *Every*
Ngage game at the EB in Willow Bend Mall(up here) is $7 or less as they are
clearing them all out(and have been for about three months now...*nothing* has
sold since this clearance that I can tell).

I;'ve got a laptop...or I would actually get a QD. People keep encouraging me to
get a damn cell phone though....and I just can't stand the fact of being reachable
*anywhere* I go. If I were to ever get a cell though, it'd be the NGage...

The QD is a better phone overall, but it lacks USB connectivity and the
MP3 player that the original unit had. It's worth mentioning that while
the N-gage was officially discontinued on the fifteenth in the States,
they're thinking about reintroducing the thing at the end of 2006. Also,
the new Series 60 phones are supposed to be compatible with old N-gage
games to a point, so it may not be necessary to get an N-gage branded
phone to play the games.
We're way off topic now, so I just want to mention that Dead or Alive 4 is
quite the bomb.

Some of the games look arlight...I just can't imagine playing them on A) A phone and
B) A regular Cell phone at that. The NGage, at least, has a sort of GameBoy-ish
layout that might almost be acceptable...though I don't know.

Speaking of bombs, is the Spartan chick unlocked initially, and if so, how is she?
Also, how's the Halo level?

Haven't seen either yet. To answer your question directly, the Spartan
character is available only after completing one of the other story
levels. Spartan, Gen Fu, Helena, and Tengu have to be unlocked separately.

Do they have the KOF game or Pocket Kingdom? I could use the hookup if they do...

1) I don't use the Ngage as a celphone; it doesn't work with my carrier.
2) I leave my cel phone off unless I am expecting a call or am making an outgoing
call. You don't need to be reachable just because you have a cel phone. |

They do, in fact I was looking at the back of the box of it the other day.

Well, only problem with that is:
If you never turn it on, you get yelled at because it's never on.
If you never pick it up, people complain about you having one...yet never answering.
If you pick it up every time, you complain that you're always being called.
There's no winning!

Do what I do... Have a really long greeting that gives people several
alternate contact methods, best times to call, and fictional button
options for business contacts. "If you're a client of Highball Consulting,
please press eight and pound to reach the preferred customer menu. If you
wish to leave a message about garage sale on Tuesday, please press nine."

Absolutely, just shoot me an email of what you want. I can pick it up tonight.

Well, it just depends on how things go. About to get a new apt. If I can get away
without having a phone, I will....but that means I'd have to stick with Cable
internet...and that slow-ass upload is killing me...plus it costs way more than DSL.
So, I may have to get a phone...at which point I'll just get voice mail with
it...never pick up the phone and really only be reachable via email or IM...on my
$14.95 a month DSL plan.

Hey, relevant to this branch of the thread... Apparently Nokia has wised
up to the renewed interest in the N-Gage pretty quickly. Previously, no
American postal code would permit you to order a new phone online at
http://n-gage.letstalk.com before the first of this month. Now Americans
are being offered one of three calling plans and a bundle of four free
games. I'm sure that the retail stores will catch up in a few weeks once
word actually gets out. I imagine that this is a sell-off of existing
stock, rather than any kind of new manufacturing.
Oh, I just did a dry-run of the ordering process. Apparently the four free
games coupon doesn't work if you buy the Cingular pre-paid service. That's
no big deal to me, but it might matter to someone who actually wants to
use the phone service.
Not affiliated with Nokia, and I'm not vouching for or representing the
view of any cellular carrier. Void where prohibited, contents may settle
during shipment, do not feed after midnight, there is no spoon.
-KKC, who should really be saving his hundred bucks for something else,
like Xbox 360 parts or something...
