Hi All,
I have updated some pages in the archives section of the International
Mahjong InfoWeb, and some other pages as well. Here is a brief summary
of what have recently been done:
1) There is a "new look" of the site.
2) The "History of MAHJONG" Archives (topic 205-Series) front page is
updated. Some new items are now also displayed on the index table. The
most notable topics include "Analysis of rules - A game of the year
1903 (Part 2)" and "Evolution of Various Forms of Mahjong (1890-2001)"
- They both now include messages about the topics from the mahjong
newsgroup.
3) The available sections of the entire site are simplified.
Information about rules and game play are now grouped in just one
section, namely, The Rules & Online Resources. Note that the Online
Resources section has ready-to-use "Invitation" and "Access to Rules"
forms that can be used by playgroup or event organizers and stores
selling mahjong sets. A newly designed "paper chips" file is also
accessible from this section.
One thing I am always curious about: I have estimated that the world
population of mahjong players to be over 98 million in year 2002 (see
http://www.imahjong.com/maiarchives206.html). I wonder what an updated
figure could be today. There is still a worksheet linked from this
page, you are encouraged to try to estimate a figure of your own, and
let us know through this group.
Cheers!
