I need to know if a Japanese Gamecube will work on a standard US
television and AC electrical system. My understanding is that there is
region protection on the games, so that a Japanese Gamecube will only
play Japanese games (without any mods), but that the basic connections
to TV and electric voltage should work the same. Is this correct?

Yes, the video standard used in Japan is NTSC, same as in North America.

The voltage requirements in Japan is 110V/60Hz, whereas in North American
it's 120V/60Hz. But the slight difference is negligible; they are well
within tolerance.

Japan also use the same flat two prong plugs for socket connections, so you
won't even need an adapter to plug your Japanese Cube's power brick into the
outlet in your home.
