Kain,
Do a Google - be aware it might take a few pages of other stuff but in the
past I have found bulletin boards devoted to IVAN. Also check the
sourceforge page (http://ivan.sourceforge.net/) - I recall that has useful
links as well.
Unfortunately it's been a while since I played it as I can't get it to
compile under the current version of gcc - if anyone has code that does,
please let me know - it's quick and fun (and there are SO many ways to die
that sometimes the challenge is to stay alive

Basically enter the underwater tunnel. Go down one level and then up again
at the other end (there is a hidden level below the middle section - but
don't bother until you're a lot more powerful). The exit is under the giant
plant (took me ages to find it (just stand on the plant and try to go up)).
From there find the town (it'll be on your map) and visit the high priest.
He'll send you off to a mine that now appears on your map. To kill the
screeching thing, travel light and quickly (forget potions - they'll just
shatter - leave them the level above to collect later). To kill Elpuri,
good luck - you'll need it (I recommend wands
Work out what each god wants you to sacrifice on the altars (they are mostly
obvious). Get it right and you can have potions refilled, weapons fixed (or
hardened), angels (or other beings) wandering around with you, limbs
re-grown (or replaced) and so on as a result of prayers and sacrifices.
</spoiler>
Good luck
Please, anyone who can get it to compile under the more recent versions of
GCC on Linux, please respond to the newsgroup - I'm sure I'm not the only
person with the issue
