Hello all,

Here's hoping you all have a very happy new year.
Back to work Tuesday Sad

I can not say I'm sorry to see last year go, there's been some good
times and some very bad times, with a sprinkling of funny times. One of
the more funny times occurred quite out of the blue.

I had a call from the office, nice girl but not the sharpest of pins in
the box if you understand what I mean.

'I need your your help John', being the sort of helpful chap that I am
and always happy to help; the conversation went like this.

There is a lady with a large flea infestation, she needs it treated
today; can you please get over and give the house a spray?

Yes sure, but we don't treat large fleas; we only treat small ones.

(trying not to give the game away and waiting for 'your winding me up').

DON'T treat large fleas!, what am I going to do now, I've told her that
we can do the job.

(hook, line and sinker)

Problem is that large fleas live on large animals and thats where we can
run in to problems, I mean what on earth would I do if they are coming
off a tiger?

You think she may have tigers as well?

(I thought I was busted at this point)

I'm not sure, thats the problem with large fleas, you just never know
what they are living on, could even be a elephant!

(okay I was sure she was going to bust me now).

Can you not just phone here and make sure she puts her pets in the garden?

(seriously trying not to crack up)

What if she doesn't know she has tigers and elephants? It could come as
a very bad shock, these things need to be broken gently!

Oh John but I told her that we will do the job!

Sorry I don't have the equipment to deal with the host animal and
besides I don't know what spray to use on "large" fleas.....

WAIT THERE! I'll find out.....

(at this point I started to panic, I mean what would the branch manager
thing of a pestey who was telling the office a nice old lady has a tiger
with large fleas... Oh no, this could go terribly wrong....)

In the background I could here this poor girl say " Would it be okay to
lock a tiger outside in the garden, when John sprays for the large
fleas? What product should I tell him to use? "

It was at that point, some how I lost my mobile phone signal.
.... oh dear...
It took me a few hours to wipe the grin off my face, took the office a
few days from what I heard!

John

I still have the trout snares you sold me last April. I am sure they
work, but can you tell me what trout footprints look like so I know
where to set them?

Don't know about trout snares but I was with a man salmon fishing one day
when he caught a fish. It was a big one and he asked me to get the tailer.
Then, as an afterthought, he changed his mind and said to get the net "as
you won't manage the tailer". Well, the salmon was on the bank pretty
quick. "Oh", says he, "You've used one of those before". My reply, "Yes,
but never on a fish with a hook in its mouth!"
