Quake. From Quake thru Quake 4 and now QuakeWars.
Tombraider. Tombraider #9 was just released two days ago, Tombraider:
Underworld.
But none of them enjoy the hugeness of Steam powered games.

Happy birthday Half-life it would seem. In honour of this occasion I
might go back and play it again but I'm not sure if I will, I've
honestly couldn't tell you how many times I've played it from
beginning to end.

Half Life. It is still playable and still enjoyable. Right Now! TR and
Quake *would* be too ...if they'd run on this rig!

For single player games I think Tombraider would be second. Can't track how
many are playing it though.
I see your point though. And Steam is what made Half-Life's continuance as
a major game possible I think.
After countless times playing Half-Life through, it's still interesting and
fun. Sure wish I could play HL2 again

I knew it was coming sometime around now, but couldn't remember the
exact date. A big happy birthday from me to the game which
introduced me some of the best online communities I've ever known, and
has absorbed countless hours/days/weeks/months of my life in the last 10
years
Three cheers for Gordon!

Agreed. However it was Diablo 1 which I originally played online.
My first online friends were made on that game and as such still
holds a special place in the withered little nuggett that is my heart.
Still, the amount off people I've come to know through Half-life is
quite large.
It's quite sad I've lost touch with some of them actually... |

Seconded. Without doubt the biggest change in my gaming life. WoW might
be more pervasive, but it was HL that introduced me to the online
community, and provided the focus for friendships which have definitely
enriched my life... unforseen consequences indeed

I'd have to agree.
It awakened me to *global* gaming (and socializing).
