| I looped into a Hallmark store the other day, looked at the Pac-Man
ornament. I don't know what I was expecting, but I was disappointed
with it. It just looks flimsier than I think I was expecting. Anyone
else have any thoughts on this?

What do you want? There's almost a 95% chance the thing was made in China. |

You're right, but I used to collect Hallmark ornaments, and I was hoping
they might make it look like it really was a miniature arcade cabinet.
Not a basic cabinet shape that was cheaply blow molded. At the very
least, they could have painted the corner edges black to look like the
black vinyl stripping put on the edges of the particle board of real
arcade cabinets.

This was the first rant of my new(ish) blog
(http://lkseitz.blogspot.com/2008/10/hallmark-missed-point.html). In
short, if you're going to sell nostalgia, you have to get it right.

I fully agree with said rant. So much so I sent a question about this
ornament and how they could get it so wrong, and I posted the URL in my
message to see if I can get any response (my money is on never hearing
anything from them).

I did get a response. They told me if I was unhappy with it, I could
return it for a refund.

Ever so helpful without actually being helpful. Or at least without
answering the question. All they'll really care about is how well it
sells. (But really, who can blame them for that?) The real question
should be, "could it have sold better?" And, if so, "why?" Too bad
they're not interested in the answer.

I'm sure someone cares, but they'll never get any email feedback.
