| Has anyone used Half-Life on a Vista PC, if so how well did it work. I
have gone through HL 2 and would like to try the original but I only
have a Vista PC, my old one took a hit from lightning.

| I can play it fine on Vista 64 bit on a 1920x 1600 widescreen. I ran through
a bit of the tutorial to confirm before I replied. Happy hunting!

I haven't played through all of HL, but it seems to be working from what I
have seen
Assuming that you're indeed using Steam?
HL2/EP1/EP2/TF2 etc works ok

I'm not sure what you mean by Steam.
Rereading my original post I should have said MS Vista

If you played HL2 without encountering Steam that'd be a pirate copy of
HL2 wouldn't it? |

Steam, Valves digital distribution platform successor of World Opponent
Network aka WON?
You sure must have been aquainted with this most hated and at the same time
most loved piece of software if you have played through HL2?

Xbox all alone, but multi player sounds like fun. |

Aah. My apologies. Steam works very well on Vista (64bit here) but I
haven't tried the original games yet. As they're all 32bit and not
16bit they should work fine... |

Ahh I see, check this site then
http://store.steampowered.com/about/
If you have a vanilla presteam installation CD for HL and a little in doubt
on how to proceed please let us know
Just for the record: I really doub that you can get HL up and running in
Vista without using the Steam platform

The site looks interesting, I might go with it instead of buying a CD
version.
Thanks again to everyone.

Metastasis is an excellent mod. Also worth looking at games that you
can buy cheaply retail and then add to your Steam account so you don't
need a CD drive etc. An example would be Prey. Bought that cheap, put
the cd key into Steam and d-loaded the Steam version. |
