Just in time for the DX10 games... is Ep2 going to have DX10 support
too ??

And Ep3 should be available by the time DX11 rolls around Smile

Valve's Episodic games were always going to be a joke. Another way of
squeezing more money ($20+$20+$20) for nothing more than a mod out of
the Steam supplicants. And Valve throws in a few worthless extras just
to placate the few restless among the supplicants.

Think what you want about it, but I'll be buying it for sure based
solely on the Portal demo and the Team Fortress 2 trailer.

John, Ep2 would be worth the price if it shipped with nothing but TF2. As
it is, you get Portal, TF2 and Ep2. Episode 2 is also looking like it will
go some way to realising the potential of the Source engine, with more
freeform gameplay and open spaces.

EP1 was quite short and very linear, but offered a better gaming experience
than games such as Prey. Valve games, in my opinion, offer great value for
money and are consistently high quality.

Good news

Btw should they still call it "Episode"?
Try telling someone from TV that in Games "Episodes" are
shown with 1 full year apart
Come on! what a joke!
Valve are simply ridiculous

Yep.....$7.99 for Ep1 from Circuit City seems to be about the right
value.

Ep2 value for money?... you (will) have been had...

See this:-

When does an episodic game morph into something patently non-episodic?
When the two money-hungry principals at Valve are involved and the
worshipping masses have bought (er, mindlessly hooked on) the first
Episode. This was all pretty predictable, and all true to past form at
Valve. This particular leopard will never change its spots, at least
as long as Doug 'n Gabe are around.

I replied to this originally but I think I replied direct to John. Anyways
here is my 2 cents.

Thanks for the update. I'm kinda glad it got delayed since I quit my job
last month. Trying to cut back on game purchases. But with Saints Row and
Test Drive unlimited coming out for the 360 in the next two weeks some money
will be spent. Wink

I enjoyed Ep1 quite a bit but must say it was way to short and the ending
sucked bad. Ep2 trailer was very impressive and looks like they are adding
some great new environments like that forest. I'll be getting it but glad it
got delayed for now. I've got lots of gaming to do. Game on fellas.

I agree with the view that Ep1 was too short. Not so much from the
point of view of value for money, but from the point of view that as a
gaming experience, it just really got going and then it was over. It
took me around 4 hours to finish.

I missed the sense of journeying that was present in HL2. I also
missed the outdoor aspects too. I particularly enjoyed the hectic
sequence whilst waiting for the elevator and the waves of "zombines"
and head crab victims in some of the other combat sequences.

I cannot fault the quality of the product though. It was a polished
game with some highly enjoyable moments

To view it with a critical eye purely from a financial point of view,
it wasn't worth the price tag when compared to Half-Life 2. To give
that some sense of perspective, the price of HL2 Ep1 was very
competitive when compared to the price of many full games sold at tier
1 prices.
