That brings up another question.. In the Sims Deluxe, can a Sims throw
a party?

I don't think so - Deluxe was the base game and Living Large. I _think_ you
needed Hot Date for a party - no - it was House Party! In either case I
don't think you can throw a party with just Deluxe
