Using the socketing cube recipe on an eth item re-adds the 50% def mod from
the eth bonus. So when you use the cube recipe, you drastically increase the
armor's defense.

Nice one. Divide by 1.5 and you arrive at a 491def non-ethereal Great
Hauberk. Max on a non-superior one is 501def, so quite close.

Uhuh, that's the safest way to get max sockets, but if you want to gamble,
and end up with an ethereal Great Hauberk with 2, 3 or 4 sockets and 1104
def, you put it through the cube-recipe, and not Larzuk's Socketing
Service...

Not bad. I think the best would be three sockets, because the Gloom
runeword can enhance the def even more. I've got a Gloom Dusk Shroud
with a lucky 255% Enhanced Defense.

Which, applied to this Hauberk, would result in 2831 defense.

Gloom would be an option, I'd personally rather put Duress in a 3 socket
Ethereal armor: more punch for the Merc.

Err, wouldn't it be even higher? The Enhanced defense get added, so the
calculation would be:

736 x 1.5 x 3.55 = 3919def. Not bad!

I've got a few Duresses around, made in such a 'bugged' ethereal 3 socket
armor, and these came out around 3000def.

My trappasins merc is wearing Stone in Ethereal Balrog Skin which has 4228
def. That's nice. It's max ED for stone is +290% and this one has +282%.
Almost perfect.

Well I might have to stow it away. This is my east accoutnand I don't
plan on rushing 20 mules to Hell Larzuk like I did on the Weat so runes
are at a premium right now. But so far I ahve been lucky. I got a LEM
potentially for Delirium. Of course I ahve to ask myself what the hell
do I need that for on East. I got the PUL for my chanter's sorc armor.
I got the runes I needed for an Odediance. I amy have to delay
decision. I think a Stone in the necro merc might be nice as he prbably
does not need so much CB given that 50+ minions can potentially run
around. Gonna have to study things a little more. Maybe even trade
would have to be considered but I would then go high high high on this
one. Would love to get an Arkaine's Valor and build a Zon that my wife
could play on East. OMG I ramble too much. Oh well gotta go.
