Welps, game started getting kinda slow with so many houses and
decorations etc. in the neighbourhood so I decided to turn the
graphics options to minimal with the exception of resolution which I
kept at 1024x768 so the GUI will fit properly on screen. Suddenly it's
rolling along at 60fps (max limited by vsync) on all lots.

But the most interesting thing is that lot loading time, which I
thought was due to harddrive loading, has shortened to about 10
seconds, down from 1 to several minutes. I guess it must be texturing
memory etc.?

Frankly I dont miss the superior graphics too much... I prefer speed
and the 'fun of the game'. Going to turn graphics up slightly to see
how the framerate and loading times fare. Anyone know which options
consume the most?

I do indeed. Don't think it has any relevance to the speed though,
since the resolution is basically the same?
